    Uti

UTI stands for universal technical institute its a technical school that deals with automotive here in Norwood Mass. I got accepted and WAS going there 8/28/06 but when i did my fafsa which is the free finanical aid form. i only got 5k in grants i thought i would atleast get half of what the school cost which is roughly 30k. I heard its the best tech school in the USA. its ranked number 1. anyways they got some good activities over there suchs as hot rod, superstreet, nascar and also they have performance classes which lets u install nitrous, supercharger, turbo, and etc.

Anyways they told me i can take out a student and parent loan which they sent me an application for, but my parents doesn't want to take part of this loan. because they think i might quit in the end or they think i won't be able to handle it. and plus they didn't like me being a mechanic for my career choice. They bring up bullshit like well you got back problems, how do u expect to carry engines, tranny and move heavy stuff around. And all this other crap.

Anyways i work at kfc part time 8.00per hr. What i planned on doing what saving up 30k so i can go back to school later in life. But this is really killing me i really wanted to go to that school badly. No matter what i say or do i can't convince my parents.

My question is, does anybody know any community college or any little programs where i can do the FAFSA and go to school free so i can learn a few thing in the automotive world. Even any place that offer a part time session where i can learn a bit.

If you can help me search.. i'm located in the BOSTON area. Massachusetts 02121.

thanks sorry for the extremely long post. thank you in advance.

hmm, you should revise your fafsa. on the questions where it asks you about how much money is in the bank, put 0, especially when it asks about how much money YOU have.

that alone should lower your EFC. also, do your parents make alot?

on the loans, there are some loans that you dont have to pay off until you graduate. and some of those have a grace period, that way you have a chance to get a job and save up some money after you graduate and pay off the loans. they range anywhere from 4 months to a year. at least the ones I know of.

you should apply for as many scholarships as you can. there are TONS of scholarships out there, even if they are for only $200, every bit helps.

register with http://fastweb.com/ its a very good site for scholarships. I highly recommend it. and like I said, apply for as many as you can do.

        school isn't free.
take out loans for your education- there are loans that have nothing to do with your parents.

i didn't know there was anything else to it.

          it is for me

i attend the University of Washington, its in the top 15 Universities in America. All for free. I am guranteed at least 5 years of free college.(assuming I don't fuck up in school and get everything taken away, which I would never do.)

I ride on scholarships and grants, tons of them.

and yes, you can cheat fafsa. If you put that you have no money in any bank, your EFC will lower and you will get more grant money. Even tho I know I don't need to lower my EFC any, only because its as low as it can get. Only because my mom doesnt even make poverty level.

            I did it.

there is no way they can check your bank account. trust me, I personally know the lady here at UW that knows and does everything on FAFSA here at the University.

You could always join the military. I see that you mentioned you had back problems, but if they're not too bad you might have a shot at the Air Force with a waiver.

I always thought UTI stood for Urinary Tract Infection. Anyways, yea boss you aint gonna find completely free school. I knew a guy that got a pell grant, a 75% Florida bright futures scholarship, and a Bill Gate's minority scholarship and he still had to pay some money. IF you're gonna be a mechanic your best bet is probably going to trade school, from what Ive heard most community colleges offer crappy education when it comes to being a mechanic.

Hoever, you can cheat FAFSA, I've done it too. My mom passed away a while back and I told them my dad was a widow and he was single, which isnt true, he remarried, I told them I had no money in the bank and no assets AND I told them I was attending school full time, when I was really only taking 2 classes. I probably got enough money to pay for almost 3 semesters, then I dropped out.

Worked like a charm. That was years ago though, I'm sure they got smarter.

so a 5k grant is gonna turn into a 30k one yea right. i don't believe that.. anyways i don't know i guess.. i'll keep working and save up and go back at a later time.

As far as i know UTI is a trade school.

unless theres one out there cheaper..
