I've never been so pissed off in a long time...
So I got off school and I decided to hit Jimmy Johns, a sandwich shop right outside the university. Their parking is very limited and as I drove by, I ddint' notice any parking along the street. So I thought I should park in the lot next to teh building...but signs were everywhere saying that they would tow your car if you parked there since it belonged to a bar next door. I thought maybe if I spent 2 minutes (which is usually the case), then I could get to work soon enough and wouldn't have to worry about my car being towed.
So I parked, got out my car, and ran inside to order a sandwich. 2 minutes later, I walked out and I noticed 2 guys putting a lock on my rear passenger wheel. 15 minutes until work and now this....I couldn't believe it. This guy, supposedly the manager of the bar next door was writing down information on a clip board, my license plate number, vin, etc. He told me if I wasn't going to pay 80 to remove the lock, they'd call the tow company and have my car towed...
But I didn't have 80 dollars. Not only did he want 80 dollars, he wanted it in cash. I argued with him as to why I can't pay credit card, he just said that was just the way it was, no if ands or buts! This guy was a total asshole. Even a lady that walked by shouted it out "Those guys are assholes aren't they!"
I told him I didn't have 80 bucks so he told me that he'd have to call the tow company and settle everything out with them. IF that was the case, I'd have to pay an addition 200 or so dollars for them to tow my car. This hella pissed me off cause I felt like I was forced to pay even more when I didn't have hte money with me, not to mention, I was hungry and late to work.
The next debit machine was 2 blocks away. That's what I did, I had to walk that far in the damn cold and withdraw 80 fuckin bucks...I gave it to him, then I ripped up the receipt he gave me and throw it in his face, and I left
With that said, I know everything is my fault, I took a chance and I was responsible for it. I've heard many stories of them doing this to many students. Even though it's their property, don't you agree that there is a line that could be crossed? they were assholes!.....it's just difficult since I was hungry, wanted to stop by a shop and get some food, and I ended up paying 80 bucks in addition to the food!
I know it's a long story but I'm pissed. I've actually thought about it so much today. If I didn't have 80 and they were gonna tow my car, maybe I should've boycotted and sat on my trunk so that they wouldn't tow my car. Or maybe I should've parked backwards so that they wouldn't be able to fit the lock under my front wheels since my car is so low. Or maybe, I should've had a toolbox in my trunk cause all you need to remove the lock is a certain size socket and ratchet.
assholes I tell ya...
