    FireFox vs. Internet Explorer

    1. Vote bitches.

    2. Discuss. I still use IE to this day, and don't understand why so many people use Firefox. What is so good about it? I have some comments, but I'll post them after I learn a little bit more.

      Firefox FTW!!!

I use Firefox where ever I go. Period. My reasons are as follows:

      * I use Portable Firefox at school, it runs off my flash drive, and with entering in one master password, I have all of my passwords/form information securely there and available.
      * It has the ability for complete skinability, and uses Extensions (plugins that allow totally new functionality, for example a weather indicator in the status bar, etc.)
      * It prevents popups far better than IE does, and with the Adblock extension, you can block ads permantly, like those annoying banner ads on MSN or on more questionable web sites that have good information and data (like warez or serial sites)
      * It has a tabbed interface that allows an easy way to have multiple pages open under one master window.
      * It will load any page faster that IE and use less of your computer's resources.
      * It reduces the ability to get adware/spyware because it prevents ActiveX controls, as well as many other malicious ways for software to install itself on your computer. I have not had any spyware since I switched to Firefox in it's early beta stages.

I totally am late for my class now, but those are just a FEW reasons. It is far better designed and runs so much smoother than Microsoft's overbloated ship of a peice of software.

I highly recommend any and everyone to make the switch . Once you get used to it's functionality, you will never go back. Also check out Opera, it is also about as good or maybe better than Firefox (which means worlds better than IE).

Tabbed browsing is the shit. You can have unlimited tabs open with only one browser. No need to have to deal with the grouping that occurs with IE.

Upcomming versions of IE will have tabbed browsing.

I agree with dwf137. Although FireFox has always used more memory initialy, each new tab/window uses very little. But its a small trade-off, it crashes very rarely, and 99% of sites work with it. I've used a handful of websites that require IE. I know some people are like, ZOMG use teh l337 f1r3f0x yo, 1ts uber. But I've used both for years and prefer FF. Haven't tried Opera in years.

Firefox ftw...no pop ups, no spyware, tabbed browsing, multiple user profiles...IE is only getting tabbed browsing to remain relevant against Firefox...

I use Opera for porn...whoever uses my comp uses FF. Opera is pretty good as well, probably on par with FF IMO...

                          firefox = open source

                          therefore firefox > I.E.

to hell with Microsoft! the only reason i still have a windows partition is because of the lack of game development for linux.
