    Verizon Questions

Im thinkin of getting verizon when my current contract is up. I want the lgvx9800, its got the mp3 player with the lil memory card. My question is do i jus hook the card up to my pc (via usb im thinkin) and add mp3s? or do i have to pay for them to get on hte card? I though i jus copied them from my pc but my ups guy says he pays for everyone of them.

I think I saw somewhere that the MP3s off of iTunes aren't compatible if that helps any.

The MP3's off iTunes can be compatible if you burn them onto a cd then re-rip them back to your computer.

Just get a data cable and software off ebay to transfer songs onto it, you would use the data cable and plug it directly into the phone through the mini-USB port.

Here's an example of one, I did the same exact thing with my LGVX6000.

The memory card that fits in that phone should be a Mini-SD. If I'm not mistaken, the largest card the phone can address is 512MB. Buy a 512MB MiniSD card with the MiniSD-->SD adapter. Should run you about $50. The just pick up a USB SD card reader, should be about $10-$20. When you insert the card it should show up as another drive letter on your computer as "removable device". After you format the card in the phone and then plug it into the reader on your PC, you'll see directories like MY_MP3, MY_PIX, etc. Just drag a bunch of MP3s into the right directory and slap it back into the phone. It's cool shit.

NOTE: I don't know what the exact character limit is, but I've noticed that the phone can not read files with longer file names. Your computer is capable of writing a file name (assuming you're using some recent version of windows, NT/2K/XP, or even 9x if you're that nostalgic about it) up to 254 characters but the phone will freak out well before that limit. The phone isn't limited to 8.3 filename format or anything, but you can't have 200+ character filenames either. Just play with it and you'll see. That's a nice phone, good luck and have fun.

The 9800 MIGHT hold more than that, I'm not too sure... I just know that you're 100% safe with 512MB, that's what all the previous model says in the manual. It holds a good amount of songs/pics/whatever... if you used it for just pics, for example, you could fit about 1500.

I have the LG 9800 and have a 1GIG mini SD card. You can put videos, movies, MP3's, pics. You can actually do alot on this phone. You can even get free ringers. It just takes a bit of time and reading. You only need the data cable for certin stuff. You will need a card reader to read the min SD card. This saves lots of time while transfering data. I enjoy my phone when I have time to play with it. If you have any questions you can PM me or message me.

1GB, nice, didn't know that. Have you tried filling it up or at least past the halfway mark?

Well I don't exactly know how much I am using. For a while though I did have 2 complete movies along with other short movies. They are cool to show off. I work in a shop so showing the guys some new vids of chicks stripping or stuff always gets a crowd. I don't use the MP3 function as much but it is there.
