whichever camera you get, i'd recomend one that takes sd cards...so basicaly not sony. even though the quality is amazing, the sony i got from my friend.... had to buy a 512 card and that ran me a good 50 dollars when a 1 gb sd card was sitting right next to it for 45.

parts for it like memory and charger is just way to expensive.

only 30k, shit I'll take two.

I recently bought a Canon Powershot SD450 and I really like it. You can get the SD500 for pretty cheap now I believe. It's a 7.1MP IIRC.

Like someone else said, you can't go wrong with anything Canon.

In my opinion, Nikon is probably the best way to go, but here's the thing: go with any company that has been making High Quality Optics for years. Nikon, Cannon, Olympus, and many other Japanese cameras made very high quality film cameras, so the Digital Cameras have a good history of High Quality optics and materials. Here is what you want to look for:
                    1) Shooting Modes
                    2) OPTICAL ZOOM
                    3) Screen Size
                    4) Accessibility of Features
I have a Nikon (too lazy to go into my room and see what model) that I love. It is a six MP camera, and the menus are crazy easy to access. With like 4 button presses, I can change from outdoor Macro to "Food Mode" or "Party/Flashing Lights". And all the scene selections work great. I actually bought like 6 different open box cameras tried them out for a week, and returned them. (Open Box because there is no restocking fee. Tricky Tricky.....)
