Yea I agree, looks like its over the alloy. If it was a pure carbon fiber wheel, i bet the price would be higher.

If it was a pure carbon fiber wheel, i bet the wheel would be crushed when it was put on a car

Yeah, carbon fiber isn't really all that strong... It's more of a cloth-like material, I believe. Aren't CF hoods really fiberglass or something, with the CF on there as reinforcement?

Anyway, I wonder how much those wheels weigh. They say lightweight, but what does that mean? I've seen 10lb 16" wheels advertised as lightweight, and 18lb 16" wheels ALSO advertised as lightweight... As long as they're lighter than stock, it's not false advertising...

Well carbon fiber is really strong, especially for threaded material (compare it to fiberglass), but then again like cpmike said it would not withstand the weight of a car. As for CF hoods, there basically the same as a fiberglass hood, with ONE layer of cf matte on top of it, then clear or gel coated...so in reality a VIS or other "cf" hood makers dont make completly true CF hoods, if they did it would much more expansive and be even lighter than the "cf hoods" we have.

So most likely the same concept is being used with the wheels, probably aluminum or whatever metal wheel, then cf layed over the outside of it. There is no way that you can have a true cf wheel...
