    What the hell is with MTV turning into fucking ghetto fabulous tv?

    It's shitty enough that they barely ever have music on there anymore, now the only music that's on there is garbage and all the vj's are "gangstarrr" fruitcakes that mumble and ramble on about complete shit and you can't understand a fucking word they're saying.

    I always used to watch the morning wake-up or whatever it's called and it always had a semi-even amount of rap/hip-hop and good genres of music mixed together, but now whenever I turn it on it's rap video, followed by a rap video, then another, then another, then another. Then of course they have the token video of like Evanescence or The Used every hour then go back to like 60 minutes of rap.

    Sorry peeps. I didn't get a lotta sleep so I'm in...one of those moods lol. I'm sure someone else feels the same way lol.

    It's been like that for awhile hasn't it? I haven't watched in probably over a year. Do they still run the same roadrules challenges and real worlds over and over again?

      MTV plays what makes them money, and targeting the youth market happens to be their cash crop.
      The stuff that we used to see on MTV is no longer popular with todays youth, and the same thing will happen in the future.
      10 years from now, the kids of today will be complaining that theres no more "garbage music" and "gangstarr vj's"... some new trend will be apparent.

      We all age, but MTV stays young.

      ps... havn't watched MTV in 8 years, and proud of it!!!

        Yep, MTV is retarded. First off, there's hardly any actual music on the channel. Music videos are on from like 3 to 6 am, and I assume TRL is still on. MTV2 came out, and it was almost all music for a little while, but now it's turned to crap also. Second, as you pointed out, the videos get repetitive very quickly. I can watch 30 minutes of the little music they do play and see the same crappy video twice. I've switched over to watching Fuse, and I feel it's far better. However, I've noticed they're starting to play more rap lately as well, but they still keep a pretty even balance.

          MTV stopped showing music, so they made MTV2... Now THEY don't show music either! VH1 used to show the more "mature" videos... Now they're just as bad.

          MTV used to show videos all day, and at prime time they would have shows... which were strongly centered on music (Beavis and Butthead... you STILL saw videos there... and I learned of some pretty kickass obscure bands from that show!)


          I think the internet plays a big part in it. You want to see a music video, go to youtube, myspace, veoh, google, or the artists' websites. Nobody has the patience to sit around and watch video after video to see one they like... especially since the popular music today is so similar... yet diverse. There are so many different styles within each genre that it's hard to target any large crowd successfully. Making a show where semi-attractive sluts battle for the affections of butt-ugly Flavor Flav (who is the man, by the way ) is all they have left!




          Bongo, when I read that you got a Civic in place of the CB7, I was thinking "why would he do that?"... But now I see your sig, and I see why. That thing is clean!

                This all makes sense...as do everyone else's comments. I guess I'm getting older...:/ lol. I never sat and watched the videos, but I would put the tv on while I wake up and get ready and stuff and be listening and half watching and it was pretty cool lol and if I couldn't sleep or was up for some reason I'd always put mtv on and watch the videos but now all the songs are just repetetive and half of the rap songs have "melodies" that resemble childrens songs and nursery rhymes.

                And Deev. Thanks means a lot comin from the Mack Daddy of the site lol. I have actually been looking around for a while for a 4th gen hatch but I couldn't find any worth selling the cb for. Then I came across this one and gave them a lowball offer and they actually took it, and lucky for me I had someone waiting to buy the cb so I had the cb sold and the civic bought and on the road within 12 hours time lol.

                  MTV annoys the piss out of me. I remember watching videos in the morning before heading off to high school, but now it's just crap. When MTV2 came out, I thought I was saved, but then they started to morph into the exact same thing MTV is now. With MTV2, I used to watch videos before going to the campus, but now I can't even do that. It's alright though, I don't really watch videos. Better to see a band live anyway.
