    Decisions, decisions, decisions...

I know i'll get alot of mixed reviews and answers on this, because it is rather personal, but i feel i can get some advice and aswers from my peers on this site, so try not to flame or tell me "what you think" about me...

    So here it is...

Before i moved to Arizona last October, i was pulling 3rd shift and the local McDs making $8/hr. My gf worked days at the same locale. We had a really nice apartment. Cable, internet, appliances, all that stuff. But we didnt have much saved and i was never able to come across much for the CB--but we were on our own.

Im trying to get to the point without leaving out important details, lol.

Anyway, we moved back to KC(Columbia, really..)from AZ, but we moved into my parents place. My brothers going to school here, my step-brother lives here as well, so its really, kinda, the whole family. Its a 3bed/2bath house, everyone's got their own room, but my step-bro sleeps on the floor--his choice. We all buy our own food and for the most part take care of oursleves.

Coming back from AZ, my parents told us we could stay and find jobs and get on our feet, etc. and then move out. Well, an idea has come up recently and im not sure what to do..

Everyone wants to find a 4 or 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house for everyone to move into. No one seems to have a problem looking for a place that has a complete basement so that me and my gf can kinda have "our own space." And there will be less stress on bathrooms, space, etc. Since this is a college town, apt's and houses are relatively cheap. Our current place is just over 2 years old and we're only paying $675/mo. All appliances, C/A, garage..its nice for the price. 1-2bdrm apts run anywhere from un-furnished $400/mo to furnished $900/mo. -Dont ask, i think its kinda dumb too- Here's the kicker..with our current jobs, me and my gf will be pulling in about $1900/mo.

My parents want to get a large enough house for everyone to live in and for all the "kids" to save up enough money so that we wont have to come back later, lol. If we do so, we wont be asked to pay rent. If we do itll be no more than $200/mo.

The dilemna: Do i move in with "The Fam" and save money and finally give my CB some love...or do i decline, move out on my own, in my onw place and have minimal "CB Cash"???

If we stay with everyone, even after our bills, cell phone, ins, gass, food, etc..we'll have over $1000/mo. If we get our own place we're looking at having anywhere from 300-500/mo.

The ultimate decision is up to me, but id just like to hear from anyone who is, or has been in this kind of situation.

listen up, I dont know how young you are but if you have the opportunity to stay with rents and pay minimal to no rent , then go for it. Dont blow all the save cash on the cb(believe me, it wont be hard to do). This idea is a good foundation to start a better future. Its cool having your own place but its not cool just working to pay bills. Think about it, way your options, base the decision on what means more to you...your own place(less cash in had) or a basement apartment (with mor ecash to play with)

We're both 22. If we got another place with my parents we wouldnt necesarrily live in the basement, we would have our own room but we could use the basement for our tv, furniture, etc. Cuz we're forking out $80/mo for a storage unit of stuff we cant use. My moms totally about us "starting a better future." As are we. But when we lived on our own, i thought that was a good life. But as mentioned, i had little to no cash-in-hand. Ultimately we'll probably end up staying home for a while. I wont blow every penny on the CB but the basic drop, swap, and wheels are in my plans. The drop is gonna run me $1000+/-. Wheels are a little less, but the swap is more than likely gonna run me 2-3k.

I appreciate the posts guys. More are welcome.

Mike, you know I live on my own AND have 4 kids, and we pay $950 a month in rent right now. but my advice to you, since you do have the opertunity to live at home, do it. It might be a little stressful, but you will be able to save up some money, and maybe even save 5-10K and put that as a down payment on a house you will own of your own, and just pay a morgage.

Plus then you will have some money to come to KC again

like everyone said stay with the parents man.

i moved out to "prove myself" that it is cool to move out and support myself.

yeah it is cool but it is cooler to make right decisions that gonna affect ur future.

i say live at home, save 10k, put it as a downpayment on a house, DONT LIVE IN THE HOUSE, but rent it out! let someone else live there and pay off the mortage, when you've saved up some more money, you can move into your new house.

Dude... I would try and work that out... when shit hits the fan, your parents might be the only peeps you can count on...

I had to move out to sort shit out with my parents... but we worked it all out... and now I'm moving back to save for a condo/co-op. Financially there's nothing better than staying home with your parents... establish a good base there, then move on your own.

Stay at home stack your chips but dont be a burden and if a bill comes up and your responsible or not try to chip in that way itll relieve stress and you wont be looked upon as being a burden. Buy your own food little shit like that chip in for electricity and stuff like that. Save more and more money hell you might not even want a cb then just keep saving and yourll find something even better than a cb or some older car prolly a musclecar or jsut a car to get around in just for kicks .

Honestly save your money and make your moves wisely so that when your ready you and your shorty will move out. But whenever theres a problem and it looks like its leading to you like a family quarrell or fued unless it involves you dont get involved or have any part of it. If that attracts bad attenton you and company/girl will get looked upon and may be thought of as causing trouble/overstaying the welcome and that situation can become hostile.
