    Salvage title s2k

Ok I'm want a s2k. I found one 2002 grey, for $12,000 has 25,000mi. Has a Salvage title. Damage was with a roll over. This vehicle has a salvage title due to a roll over. As a result, few parts were replaced: soft top, two front fenders, bumper, and a hood! The rear driver side quarter panel has been repaired due some damage caused by the accident. Also, the front windshield post has been replaced. All the replaced parts are original Honda Factory. This vehicle has been restored to it‘s full operational condition.

You guys think its worth getting. If i get it i plan on having it for 10+ years.

not really. i own a salvaged titled vehicle as well my sister. i got AAA insurance and it wasnt hard to insure btw.

the insurance on my salvaged titled legend is actually cheaper then the 5 year older accord.

why not save up the extra 4-5 grand and get one with an okay title?

                    ^exactly

i wouldnt mess with a salavage title..until i take it to a reputable body shop..have them look at every inch..alot of things can be wrong with it..air bags are taken out..various parts missing..half assed bondo jobs..and even worse..structural damage. that chasis could be hangin together by just a few welds rof..if you have the money to fix it then get it...but it seems like this one has been fixed up...idk..you might as well just find a used one with a good title...

                      i agree with /\

get it checked over very carefully, make sure everything is good. if so, hell yeah buy it!

the thing with salvage title vehicles... you can insure and register them fine... but if you ever get into an accident, your insurance company will give you less than half what they would have given you if it had a clean title. if you total the car, you get next to nothing back for it.

                          Buy an s2000 new
                          crash/ roll it over
                          get it fixed like "new"
you see the car will never be the same
sell it with 25k miles for less because its salvage

with the type of frame in the s2000 its not worth it to buy one wrecked.

Some states issue a salvage title for a car that was stolen, damaged or not. Some will issue a salvage title for water damage, or even an abandoned vehicle.

You KNOW that the car rolled. Cars aren't meant to roll. The frame may be twisted. There may be leaks in the roof because things don't line up properly. Something could've been jarred in the engine because... well... it was upside down!

I wouldn't recommend getting it. That's a LOT of money for a car that has been rolled. If you get it, KNOWING the history, and there's something seriously wrong, you're out of luck. You can't take it back. If it's beyond fixing, you just bought yourself a $13,000 F20C swap You won't be able to sell it to anyone else, unless you lie... and then they can sue you.

I say avoid it. It sounds too good to be true, and I have yet to see a situation like that actually be good.

To put things in perspective, I bought a car that sells for nearly $10,000 less brand new (same year). It had double the mileage on it. It's domestic. I paid the same amount as they're asking for that s2k.

I would NOT do it. Like what has been said above, "why not save up the extra 4-5 grand and get one with an okay title?" Looking back on everything I have been through with my CB I wish I would have held out for one with a clean title. Yeah the CB I have, had lower mileage then the others I had looked at, fresh paint, no fender rust, and a little bit cheaper. Looking back, if only I would have looked at the little things, like the door seal that leaks during a rain down pour or a car wash, or the trunk that doubles as a rain gauge.

I can honestly say, I WILL NEVER BUY A SALVAGE TITLED VEHICLE AGAIN! Unless it is going to be strictly a parts car, I would NEVER even consider a salvaged vehicle. There is only so much a vehicle history report, such as carfax.com, can tell you.

A salvaged vehicle may seem like a good idea when it comes to the purchase price but, you have NO IDEA what you are getting yourself into. You have no idea how bent, twisted, or near its breaking point the frame may or may not be, or what other safety features of the vehicle were compromised from the accident that resulted in the title being branded with the SALVAGED status. There are so many unknowns, ESPECIALLY WITH A ROLL-OVER.

My advice to you is, just step back, let someone else take the chance. Later
