    Want a free iPod?

I promise this is not spam.

    BACKGROUND INFO
There are several sites, such as freegiftplanet.com freevideogames.com freecondoms.com all run by the same company Gratis Networks. Gratis gets paid by advertisers such as AOL, a whole bunch of credit card companies and the like, when you sign up for a free trail of their product (and in order to entice you to sign up they give you various goods). Now depending on what you sign up for, you get points and you can redeem the points for all kinds of stuff.

I completed several of these offers before with other free[...].com companies and they've all been legit. There is a huge thread on fatwallet.com that describes in detail generally the same process, except you receive points based on offers you complete yourself, rather than referrals. If you are diligent and keep up with the site offers, you can do very well for yourself. The advertisers are obviously banking on you not canceling your subscription, and then they make their money on you. Either way they pay gratisnetworks (owner of these sites), so as long as gratis stays alive (and they've been around for a while) you'll get your goods.

Usually the trial is for 2 weeks or so. If you call and cancel the trail you never get charged. If you forget, they hit you up for $99.99 annual charges and other BS. WHICH IS HOW THE ADVERTISERS MAKE THEIR MONEY...WHEN YOU FORGET TO CANCEL.

    [B] THE OFFER [B]
The way this deal works is, you sign up for www.freeipods.com account complete and offer and then have 5 other people complete an offer using a referral link that you give them. They click your link to sign up for freeipods.com and then complete and offer and you get one credit. After 5 credits you get a free 15 GB iPod shipped to your door.

Here's what I propose here. At a couple of other websites, they have created a "conga line" in order to get the referrals done quickly and easily. The way it works is, a list is started one referral link (mine) and then 5 people click through from my link and join freeipods.com and complete an offer. Each of those people posts their link and I make a list, in order of post time and then other people use the next link on their list to sign up and so on.

    Here's an example.

The way it works is, I post my referral link, and Billy (a random name for ease of discussion) clicks my link to join the site. Once Billy signs up (with a valid email address [because Billy needs to verify the email address though a click-thru in an email they send him]) then Billy completes one offer (I recommend ancestry.com because there is a 14 free trial (though you have to give a CC number) and it's very easy to cancel) and I receive one referral credit. Billy then receives a referral link and posts it here. Each subsequent person clicks my link and completes one offer until I have 5 credits. ( I will post when I have received five verified credits) Then Billy is next and the next few people that sign up use Billy’s link until he gets the 5 referral credits and so on.

If the idea takes off here, it will take some work in order to keep the conga line working. I’ll reserve a post just after this one in order to create a list the people in order and their referral link. For now I can take care of this. After a while though I may give up the reigns to someone else.

    Here's my link right here

So 5 people need to click my link, sign up and complete an offer, then post their link and I'll post their links in order and we can start getting some free ipods....

It's definitely a MLM scheme, but there are several people that have already received their iPod, so they are paying out.

The difference between this and other pyramid schemes is that is you want to do it on your own it works too. All you need to do it sign up and then have five people click and sign up though your referral link. With this sort of conga line I've set up, it's an easy way to get 5 referrals pretty quickly.

I have seen this on HT. I did more research into it, and it actually does work. I will tel you all though when I tried it the ancestry.com link had been removed. It appears as thoug it is back up, but I don't know if you can still call and cancel. Anybody done this within the past couple of days?

I did the ancestry.com deal about 4 days ago and didn't have any problems canceling. I also have a friend who logged in to her account and hadn't completed an offer yet, and ancestry.com was still there.

thanks very much. Getting in early on this deal is a great idea. The fewer peple you have in front of you the faster you get your iPod. I just saw that a couple other people have gotten their 15 GB iPods delivered.

Good luck getting your iPod anytime soon. Apple's way behind and can't keep up.

I opted for one of these from Dell. Cheaper and does the same thing for me.

The Dell DJ doesn't have as nice a UI, but they are pretty nice indeed.

Apple is behind on the minis, not the regualr iPods. The people that haven't gotten theirs yet are the ones who ordered mini's

What is the difference between the mini's and the regulars? Obviously the mini is smaller and has funny little colors, but are there any other differences?

Here's a great comparison chart to show you differences between the two.

You can change your choice on what you want to receive after you sign up for the deal too. There is a drop-down box that lets you choose all over again. So don't get too worried about which one you choose off the bat
