Ok, heres the sitch

A buddy of mine received an email from this so called Bank.

It says the usual what-nots, u are the bla bla bla

receive fund of gazillions of dollars.

the trouble is, my buddy here (gullible, yes, stupid, definite yes) replied to the email. and they (scammers) have replied to more than a few ( 5 or 6 to be exact) emails

in the email, it says, please answer questionnaire bla bla bla bla..

now, the issue is, what wud happen? worst case scenario. shes using yahoo mail (dont they have filters there)

and we live in Malaysia.

what to do? who to report too?

help ASAP

they wont do anything with license information, but I hope she didn't give out banking information.

If she gave any information regarding bank accounts, credit cards, etc... she should have those changed ASAP.

Driver license information, address... not much she can do. I would suggest notifying the police about it. Get all the info possible from the email, print it out, and take it to the police. Tell them what happened, and ask what can be done to protect her information.



It's probably an identity theft attempt. With the DL information, they could probably make a fake ID to be used pretending they are her. That could allow them to get credit cards in her name, take out loans... who knows.


Maybe it's nothing. Maybe she didn't give enough information to be at risk... but she should take all precautions just to be safe.
