which is why racism still exists...because the ones being hated only turn to hate the haters.

i used to be a pretty big skinhead type mentality until i found out that the majority of the world is just plain ignorant.

its just that a certain race fall into that catagory, so the entire race is just assumed from the general public. you should see the assitant teacher at my local automotive school, he has a noose hanging from his trunk

with that being said, ive said some crazy stuff myself.

Racism does still exist. Thats part of what i was saying yesterday. He may have been afriad of you, but he didnt know you. And instead of being polite, at any point in his interaction with you, he chose to use his ignorance as a weapon and treat you like shit. If i wouldve seen him coming up behind me, i wouldve pulled out in the intersection just enough to piss him off.

I just don't understand why the color of my skin has anything to do with my driving. It was actually a fairly "white" area that I was in, too! Hell, I grew up in a very "black" area, so could that mean that I'm actually more "black" than he is?

Whatever, I don't get it. If I had said something similar to him, I wouldn't doubt that he'd be out of his car coming at me... or calling the cops on me. I somehow feel that since I'm white and he's black, that he (and others) feel it's ok for him to say something like that. It's not. It bothered me a lot.

What i dont understand is the revers of it. why is it ok for him to come at if you had called him the "N" word, but if he calls you "whitey" or whatever its not cool for you to go at him? Why is that?

No one should be going at anyone really. It seems like it was more a tactic of intimidation than anything. He knew that if he called you "White", itd make you angry. And if you went at him, he could either "fuck you up" or get his "boys" on you. OR even call the cops. It was an excuse to initiate some sort of fight or process, ultimately ending in you losing. I just dont think its fair that as soon as "that word" comes out of a white persons mouth, its not cool. Its not ok. but white ppl can get verbally bashed and called out all day long, and thats ok.

I don't mean to derail your thread, but this is similar to the issue that has sprouted up about Bill O'Reilly's comments on Nas performing at Virginia Tech.

O'Reilly called the president of Virginia Tech a "villain" for allowing Nas to perform there, in light of last years tragedy. He went as far as saying "'Having a rapper who trades in violence perform at Virginia Tech insults the victims, the university and the entire commonwealth,' O'Reilly declared."

Now, irregardless of your political opinion, or your opinion on O'Reilly, this is not a race issue as Nas has so adamantly made it out to be. There was no mention of his race in O'Reilly's comments, hell there wasnt even any disapproval of the material he raps about.

Personally, I agree with the comments made by O'Reilly. Hes wrong ALOT, but this time he at least has a point. (and I consider myself a republican.)

Racial stuff is just so touchy. Honestly, it wouldn't bother me all that much... aside from the fact that I would've gotten myself in it deep had I retaliated with a similar comment. Even if I just said "shut your black ass up". No worse than what he said to me (better, in fact... since his comment was regarding the area I was in... and saying I didn't belong there).

I drive a car from this decade... so what. I have the same car as him sitting in my driveway as well! I'm from one town over, and if he owned his home, it's probably worth more than my little shack. So why didn't I fit? Am I a "rich whitey"? Why shouldn't I be there?
OMG... I PAUSED at an intersection... he could've passed me on the right (there was room) and everything would've been fine. But NO... he passed on the left. And instead of honking his horn when he was behind me, he did it NEXT to me... what do you do when you SHOULD be moving, and you're not... and someone honks? You move! I damn near t-boned him! My brakes suck as well (thankfully I upgraded the fronts!).

Right up there with Politics and Religion, Race is a super-uber sensitvie subject. Cuz thats all we are. Race, Religion and our Politics. Its just a shame that the on-going battle may never be settled. Least i dont think it will be in my lifetime. Its one of those things thats BS and sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before, but in the end, theres nothing you can do about it. the only chopice or option is to take it with a grain of salt and learn from it. Most ppl would use it as an excuse to become just a litte bit more racist, but you gotta see beyond and see that he was just being an asshole.

Its exactly what everyone said.....doesn't matter what race you are....the World is filled with ignorant people.

Many people point the finger at other races and say they are being targeted and picked on but then they turn around and do it themselves to others. So who is in the wrong then??

People use the "race card" too much as a crutch in this World because society has made it okay to say "oh i'm being picked on because of the color of my skin". Nope!!! Doesn't matter what color of skin you have to me....if you are an ignorant Asshole....then you are just that....A big ignorant Asshole LOL

I believe everyone has a right to a better life or way of living....But it works the same way for people that move into the United States for the "freedom" , education, a better life for family and friends and other reasons but yet sit around and mooch off the goverment funds etc. And then go around bitching about how unfair the US is and how much the government sucks and this and that sucks and how they don't like the people living here etc. I think if people go around feeling that way towards this country and society then maybe you should quit bitchin' and "A" find a solution or "B" move back or go to another country if it suits you better. I've never understood that at all. Its the freedom of choices in life.

But back to the topic at hand.....don't take it to heart Dev....shit like that happens everyday....Many ignorant people in this World and things won't ever change. As much as it pisses you off you gotta try to let things go (within reason) because people like that guy will never get it, will never understand the ignorance or anything because in his World everything revolves around him and his thinking is the correct thinking. lol deev. What are the chances that the guy that honks, illegally passes, flips the bird and then pulls the race card on you would be driving a CB?

At least he honked before making the pass. I'm not sure what the laws are in Jersey for stopping at an uncontrolled intersection are but, I can assure you that he was in the wrong for passing you in an intersection.. Hell it is illegal to change lanes within 10 feet of an intersection in most states. If you would have been hit he could have came around and said you were stopped with you hazards on and then all of a sudden darted into traffic.. And since he would have more then likely side swiped you it would appear that way also..

I know in Kansas and Missouri, stopping at an uncontrolled intersection without pulling to the right, is a ticket for impeeding the flow of traffic. Seriously though, what was this guys hurry?

The whole race thing, saying "I am from around here and this guy isnt because his skin is blue and mine is green" doesnt make sense to me. We are all people, regardless of the color of our skin.

I can honestly say that I used to be a VERY CLOSE MINDED person when it came to race. I have since attended a HS with a wider range of student then my previous school, which led to making new friends that weren't all white, understanding that we are all humans. I still have friends from HS that I graduated with almost 4 years ago. We aren't best buddies or anything but we still talk and occasionally hang out. HS really was a stepping stone for me, not only in this sense but in many other examples that I won't bore eveyone to death sharing.. Hell, right now I am getting ready to leave for a Kansas City Royals vs NY Yankees baseball game. It is Hispanic heritage night or something to that effect tonight at the stadium. Later

He's probably the type of dude that's unemployed and swears it's because he's black instead of realizing that he's just an ignorant asshole. You would have been well within your rights to return the remark. It's people like him that make things worse for everyone....

On the flipside, would you be offended if someone was to say, "Damn Deev, you a cool as white boy."? Just curious.

I've heard heads say this and i'm like "Damn son, what if you worked in a corporate setting and your boss said you were a "Pretty smart black boy"?" Then they get it....

I can understand racial differences... and no, I probably wouldn't be offended, simply because we're from different cultures. If I was "cool as a white boy", that'd be a flattering comment, seeing as it's coming from someone that has a different background. I mean, we're all people, but different races DO often have different cultures... it's idiotic to assume that because "color doesn't matter" that a black family has the same sorts of experiences as a white family... or even moreso, an asian family. I know a few asian people, and their family life (especially those with immigrant parents) is considerably different. BUT, using race as an attack, especially in a situation where it has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING, is totally uncalled for.

Mike, he didn't honk before he passed... if he had, I would've gotten out of his way. I was already moving to the left, and he was already next to me when he honked. I nearly gunned it!

I thought it'd be nice if I had an accident and totaled the GTP... then I could get something better! But, if there was an accident, I'd have hit him... even though it'd be hard to figure out who did what in a police report, I'd still probably be at fault... If you hit someone, it's YOU that failed to keep control of your vehicle.
