No offence, but people get shot a lot, and cops dont give a fuck, but when a cop get shot, its dont stop looking for him untill he is found.

Now im not saying that killing the serial killer is wrong, or that the effort they put into finding this killer shouldnt have been put.
I am saying that maybe, just maybe, if they put this much effort into finding people that shot "regular" people, there wouldnt be as many unsolved murders and possiblly, i could almost say definetly less murderers.

If that person is that out of control that they shoot a Police Officer there is no telling who is next. Shooting a Police Officer is a VERY DESPERATE move.

Police Officer's put their lives on the line everytime they wear the uniform, and 9 times out of 10 get ZERO credit from the general public.

Anyone that is mentally unstable enough to KNOWINGLY attack a Police Officer in any way, shape or form is a danger to society. You know attacking a Police Officer is an instant trip to jail or your death depending on the circumstances or severity of the incident.

When you are robbing a Gas Station but are confronted by a clerk with a gun and you pull the trigger first, you just got lucky. When you point a weapon at a Police Officer you intend to do harm to them before they take you out. People dont shoot Police officers bc they know it is like 1230138x harder to get away with than shooter you or me or any other joe shmoe. That is the only reason why people dont want to shoot officers. If they made the punishement for killing police officers the same as killing anybody else, i can guarantee you people wouldnt even think twice about shooting a cop. BUT, if they made the same punishment for shooting a regualr person, the same as shooting a police officer then everyone would think twice about if they really think if its worth a life in jail or your own death. How anyone can say that the few that protect the majority, are the same as everyone else is beyond me. It takes a special breed of person to be a Police Officer, if you don't believe me, particpate in multiple ride along's, apply for a job with a Police Department. Then see if risking your life day in and day out is something every person could do.

I am not saying that a Police Officer is any more important then any civilian BUT, look at the ratio of Police to Civilans in this country.. Odds are the numbers would shock you. madspleen is as biased as the cop haters are. as usual, the reality of it is SOMEWHERE in the middle. madspleen paints cops as near super-humans. the haters paint them as scum. they're neither, they're NORMAL people who do a job that CAN POSSIBLY be deadly. there are far more jobs out there that are less prestigious and more dangerous. MOST folks want to be cops for the rush and to avoid the hum-drum of normal life. they like the power, the gang they'll be a part of, and all the other perks that come from being a cop. they like to be looked up to and feel important.

same with most military people. it's a highly honored position that demands respect OR your quality of life can suffer because in society, regular people who make average money are only a step above the bums and the extremely poor people.

not everyone can deal with being AVERAGE and one of the simplest, most accesible ways is to be a cop (or enter the military).

their lives shouldn't be worth more but they are.

you want chaos? what if ALL the farmers on earth went on strike and quit producing food. that would be as chaotic as "no law". what about the utility departments? how long would most last without electricity. what about auto repair shops? what happens when no one can fix your car for you?

Actually think of this if we had no cops in this society now I am pretty sure hell would break lose. The Fuck the Police mentality is retarded. Just because it was a cop he got publicity. I am pretty sure the person that murdered his family and raped his children doesnt get as much publicity if not more....Most of the time shooters that do get boxed up end up surrendering or taking there own lives thats why you dont hear much. The other option is that they elude the police and they ask for peoples help. An example would somewhat be the amber alert for the kids where the police seek the public for help (doesnt really deal with killing but an example where the police go to the public for help). We have had a lot of retarded shit happen in TX recently. They have been getting quite a bit of coverage on local news. Everyone gets pretty equal coverage from what I have seen. I have met quite a few cool police officers. They are just like normal people. Yes there are the retarded ones at times but that is rare. Saying the cop deserved it...I am pretty sure that cop had a family...Think of someone killing your father or someone in your family...I am glad they shot the dude that killed the cop.
