    Back to the fold

I figured I'd check up on your monkeys after a couple of years away and reintroduce myself. I totaled my car but, together with my dad, brought it back to life. Had a few more mods, got t-boned by an unlicensed 15-year old who stole her mom's car to take her friends to the mall. Brought the car back from that brink. And now, I've switched to my 'new' car, an '02 WRX wagon. Doesn't mean I'm getting rid of the cb7, though. It just means that it's getting relegated to full-time AutoX duty. It's not pretty, but it's fast. In the meantime, I've picked up a new project car, an '85 mazda rx7 gsl (rear disc brakes, LSD, all the fun bits) for free (the pic pretty much explains why), and a new project bike, a '75 suzuki re5. If you can't tell, I've developed a rotary addiction. And the R6 is why I'm not even thinking about an h22 or turbo anymore. It's too damn fast. First car on my kill list on the bike was a lamborghini diablo, so I gave up trying to make anything else fast in a straight line after that.

Wow, long time no see! Holy crap!

I truly admire your dedication! And your collection

I've never heard of 75 Suzuki RE5 before... I never knew they made a rotary motorcycle! That's awesome! Now I want one

Good luck on the projects. Love the R6, and I'm not going to call BS on your kill because I know my bike can take take a Ferrari and Porsche, and its a 16 year old 510 pound beast but it is a 750cc.

Thanks guys. I haven't run into any Ferraris or Porsches that want to race, but I'd always be down for it. I spend most of my time on the bike on twisties (or as twisty as Iowa gets). It's a ton of fun when you're pushing it. I don't really just tool around on it, the ergos are pretty unforgiving.

The suzuki was a chance find. It stood in the corner of a warehouse for a totaled cars auction I went to with my dad since I was 10. 11 years after the first time I saw it, I bought it straight up form the owner of the auction. Currently in the process of restoring it, but the last owner did a real good job messing up the electric system for me, so sorting that out is taking up the majority of my time. Luckily, though, no major structural rust and minimal rust in the gas tank. Takes you aback though where parts are so scarce that spark plugs run $20-$30 a piece.

Yeah, I can't imagine there's much of a demand for rotary bike parts anymore! That's one of the things that kept me from seriously looking for a 79-80 CBX to restore (straight 6, not rotary... but an old, nearly forgotten bike nonetheless!)

I'd love to get ahold of one of those motors to try to rebuild... I think it'd just be neat putting something like that together! Like a cook puzzle for grown men

If you want to rebuild a rotary engine, there is no shortage of fb and fc blown motors that people just want to get rid of.

Norton was infamous for making rotaries as well.

by the way, kick ass collection.....i'm a rotary nut, so anytime ANYONE has a rotary bike, i'll stop and listen.
