The safe is a good idea. but I am sure people will do like the demo says and put it on their key ring. I guess if it makes people FEEL safe then so be it. (kinda like having Bush in office)

It doesnt matter if they have the "key" or not, then your just back to square one. We have been using security key fobs from RSA at work for a long time now. Not only do you need the random number on the key fob, but you also need a pin number, AND a password.Originally posted by 4thgenaccordThe safe is a good idea. but I am sure people will do like the demo says and put it on their key ring. Its a proven, effective security measure. Dont knock it until you understand it.

Actually, hacking even a 128bit RSA encryption can take 1trillion years by even fast computers.Originally posted by fizzbob7a good hacker can hack anything. for the average person, "added security measures" just mean more chances to fucking lose something. it's all very UNSECURE and that's just life. the lazier we get, the easier it will be to steal it all.
Hackers usually dont try to crack encryption, they have much better success with tricking the average user into supplying their information. With the new paypal key, even if you were an idiot and fell for one of those phishing emails, the hacker would still not be able to get in.
It is true that anything can be hacked given enough time and resources, but making hacking impractical is what will keep you safe.
I've learned quite a bit about computer security this semester in my "Computer Security" course. Its really an interesting problem that would be much easier to solve if it wasnt for stupid consumers.
VeriSign did a survey not to long ago where they offered a free cup of coffee to anyone who would supply their computer passwords. 66% of people took t he coffee.

You can easy get someones password and ur name. One you can watch them if there not looking. As there are programs that can record what u type and later i can bring it up to see what password you put in. Or maybe u left it on for some reason.
The code changes every 30 secs so u would have to have the thing on you.
