the thing is, if i get a GTE, i have to change the fucking motor mounts, the harness, the gauge cluster.

and not to mention WHILE the motor is out of the car, i have to tear it down COMPLETELY, send a bare block and head to get it milled, id have to regrind the crank, get new rods if i want to avoid the rod knock.

I thought it was easy to turn a non turbo super to a turbo supra. By just gettin the harness and swap with the tranny and gettin busy with it. But cant you just go to one of those motor depots and pick one up. The motor is only 3g's for the swap im thinkin 2,700-2700 fo rthe 2jz. Those are some big ass engines. But hey when theres bost involved I doubt it if youll even stay stock for a week with that motor because its just as addictive.

The 7M-GE is in there now. The 7M-GTE is the turbo variation. They have lots of potential, but they aren't as strong as the 1jz or 2jz in stock form. They need a little reinforcement. Additionally, they're pretty bad when it comes to head gasket issues.

Danny's motor can be found in the 89-92 Cressida as well... if I ever went Toyota, I'd probably do a 5 speed swap with a 7M-GTE in a Cressida

Its about as bad as generalizing Skylines are fast. Some Skylines are fast. GTE's and gts25's sure as shit arent. They sound sweet, but thats it. N/A rb20 arent good for anything, N/A rb25 are only good for the cams. GTS-T's arent anything special either, until you strap on a GT30 or GT35. Hah.

I would love a 1jz but too bad you have to order the front clip. You can order engine only but usually that doesnt come with the whole package. I am looking at Jarco (good rep with them on SF). 2995 for the front clip, rear diff, fuel pump, driveshaft. I just need to figure out shipping and should have it ordered by thanksgiving if I can find a place to store it. Would put it in the backyard but there is a fence in the way and doubt my parents will let me use the garage just to store a front clip. Might have to ask my buddy since his parents go on vacation months at a time.

Another thing the 7mgte can be made to be a monster if it is built properly. Yes it eats head gaskets but there are ways around that. The 1jz is nice because it drops in almost. The 2jz requires more fab because the rear turbo will NOT clear the wheel well unless you do some shaving or convert to single right away. Another thing that sucks about the 1jz is the r154 (i think that the code) trans isnt the strongest thing in the world compared to the v160. At first wanted to get the v160 then I saw the 3-4g pricetag and said fuck it. Either way the 5 speed is geared about the same as the 6.

When I get the motor only thing I am not looking forward to is wiring for the 1jz swap. Extending + finding out how to wire up Fuse box and AC FTMFW. Also I need to repaint the son of a bitch. If I only had a compressor at home that could hold a constant pressure ahh well. Things to do! It sucks lol just thinking about it.
