    Highway Traffic Language

ok, so i wanna start a thread sharing what different signs mean and truckers language and what not

Flashing Hi-Beams=There is a cop waiting for a speeder.
For Example: You are driving down the road, and you notice there is a cop waiting for a speeder for the other dirrection of traffic, you flash your high-beams a bunch of times so the people know to slow down becasue there is a cop.

    Smokey Bear=Cop.
This is pretty much used on CB radios and things like that.

Flashing 4=ways for a couple secs.
You do this after someone lets you pass them and enter into their lane. Its pretty much like saying thank You (for letting me in).

Post up what you know, and share the knowledge

I've seen this same symbol be used by ricers to signify the end of the race and the winner

I have heard that in Germany on the Autobahn, you do what is called "flash to pass." You flash your headlights at the slower car in your lane of travel telling them to move the hell out of your way. I've heard stories of people not moving and someone in a POS car behind them simply plowing into the back of them.

Being the nerd that I am, I have 3 scanners that I use to monitor the local Police/Fire frequencies. 2 of my scanners are also capable of monitoring nearby CB Radio traffic.
I have heard the following used during my travels (Kansas, Missouri and Iowa):

Speed traps refered to as a "Red Zone" or "Hornets Nest"

Police or Highway Patrol cruiser on an over pass running radar called an "Perched Eagle"

Police or Highway Patrol cruiser driving the highway (non-emergency no lights or siren) "Floating Eagle"

Police or Highway Patrol cruiser driving (emergency, lights and sirens) "Soaring Eagle" or "Hot Eagle"

I know a bunch more but I am drawing a blank for some reason.

ya but if you do that in America, the person in front of you gets offended and shit, and either brakes on purpose, or just stays the way they are. Very rarley to do they actually move Cuz hell, if theyre going 60 in a 55 that gives them the right to be in the most left lane possible.

Exactly, the ONE and ONLY time I have seen this work in the good ole USA was a couple years ago. I was with my family driving down the highway, down a good sized steep grade hill, there was a big tractor trailer (semi-truck) speeding down the hill nearly out of control. He was flashing his headlights like there was no tomorrow and everyone was clearing out. I dont know if it was the flashing headlights or just the sight of a speeding 18-wheeler rapidly approaching.

ya, the only time people have moved out of my way was when I am speeding in my 240. I guess they see them headlights and get scared

the one i get a lot is...

when people smash on their brakes.

to me that means "just pass me already!" but i think they originally meant it as "get off my ass!"

True. When driving on the Autobahn it is best to only use the left lane to pass and immediately get back to the right, because there is always someone faster.
