00 Subaru Impreza RS 2.5 Slow or Just me?

    Hey

I went to test drive 00 Subaru Impreza RS 2.5 this is my first time driving this year car. I drove 2005 Impreza WRX before and This 2000 are nothing like it.

I understand WRX is DOHC + TURBO on 2.0L vs RS = 2.5L on SOHC

man this car have no pickup what so ever. I have to floor it to get it up to 88 mile/hour LOL. I feel like my stock CB7 is faster than this.

Is the car really slow? or It just that impreza i drove? I'm thinking it might have some type of engine issue.

I love the look on RS 2.5 but No love when it comes to stock engine so far.

Anyone have input on this car?

I dont recall those 2.5RS's to be anything special. The no turbo version was likely meant for those who needed a budget AWD car. Add the car's age and mileage to that, and I can see how the acceleration can be compared to ur car.

    I could be wrong tho

I'm pretty sure the RS isn't turboed, unlike most Subies, so that is probably a big part of it feeling unlike the WRX you drove. Although I didn't think it was a "slow" car, so to speak

it doesn't feel like it got 165HP with 165 torque

I think it that car i went to look at. I'm going to look for another one and test drive it.

2.5RS isn't really a rocket ship by any means. The AWD drivetrain means that it will be slower than a FWD or RWD car with similar power.

Did you drive an auto or manual car?

Keep this in mind, a '00 2.5RS consistantly beats me every month at autox by at least 2 seconds. We are in the same class and our cars are prepared very similarly.

eh, not really. Subarus have a bad FWD like push to them as well. The way you have to drive a 'light' low hp car is either be on gas or brake at all times, no coasting. It is just dependent on how much throttle input is needed.

what us FWD and RWD can't do what Subaru can is Driving in the snow without worry of getting stuck hehe

I know RWD is horrible in snow and FWD is not that bad But not that great either

I got to look for 5spd Subaru

their 4EAT is 50/50 AWD for 1 and 2 gear and 90-10 for 3 and 4 where as 5spd 50/50 on all gears

but if you look at it you only need 1 and 2 gear to get out of snow
