    Eclipse or Prelude or Celica

Preludes are easy to mod and easy to do swaps on. and not alot people tune them neither.

The Eclipse, I woulden't, due to that DSM motor are wacky (IMHO) and can fail on you.

Celica is alright, but in my book, its a GIRLS carrito!!

    PRELUDE FTW!

with those pics you posted.... it's basically impossible to decide lol all three look badass.

I would pick the Prelude just because it is a Honda and I think it looks a little better than the other two.
The Celica definitely has potential too and is a newer car which is a big plus.
But if you are going for brutal acceleration, then the DSM has a big advantage but ONLY if it is AWD.

I own an eclipse and to tell the truth they give problem. my main problem came from the owner before me, beating on the car, not changing the control arm and just not taking real good care of the car. Once i fixed all the bugs in the car i had no problem. Its not a honda where you can just treat it like a step child and pay it no no mind. But if you build it well once and do not take short cut, you will be happy with the eclipse.

all-trac or nothing... but since you said base models, go with the celica. it's the newest and most potentially hassle free/ reliable.

Prelude - I like the centered dash and I'm more familiar with Honda then the other two

Eclipse - I like the exterior body styling the best, this choice would be cheapest among the three

Celica - As mentioned this would be the newest and less hassle

I'm surprised their highest trim is only slightly less than the highest trim for a newer generation. Like how the 2G Eclipse GST/GSX is slightly less (in some case more) than a 3G Eclipse GT V6 or how the 4th generation Prelude VTEC is slightly less than a 5th generation Prelude, but they are hard to come by.

No 4g63t so no worries from any crankwalk

I'm not concerned about performance since I would have kept my fd/evo8 if that was the case. Just something to drive around town. If someone wants to school me on those cars (base trims) please do so. I'm researching as well

Prelude all the way IMO. It's a Honda.....5 speed F22 is decent. I just like Preludes of that gen too. It's a bulletproof choice.

Mitsu....will never ever own one. Every one I see is always broken. Yeah they look cool...sitting in your garage awaiting repairs.

Celica....ehhh...they're nothing special, and nowhere as practical as the Honda. It's a 140hp 1.8L in the base model, or 1.8L 180hp VVTLi in the GTS. Same motors found in the Matrix and Vibe. At a shop I used to work at, we turboed a GT model with a Stafford Fabrication turbo kit and the owner grenaded the motor within 2 weeks. Threw a rod through the block. And yeah, total chick car. May as well get a Tiburon. lol

All in all, hands down, without even thinking twice I would choose the Prelude.

well 2gen eclipses look nice, only reason for crank walk is becasue of the 7 bolt design. Swap a 6 bolt on there and you have a superior, faster, boosted, nice looking car.

Preludes are nice, i like the one in the picture and if it is an si 4ws model even better

celicas are just plain girly, i wouldn't even consider one.

preludes are nice period, if u just looking for a daily driver in the eclipse, u can make it look real slick, sexy,n pimp. now the 04 celica gts i have a good friend who owns one, n the gearing is extremely nice, 6 speed, its comfortable on the inside, feels torquey and looks nice rolling. suspension is nice on the celica also.

                              Eclipse - 2,767 lb
                              Prelude - 2,840 lb
                              Celica - 2,425 lb

I've driven the Celica GT, peppy and handles good. Sits real low and lots of noise which I don't mind. Gotta go find time to test the other two. I would be able to spring for the Prelude SI, not sure if the 4ws is worth it. Anyone know if they have a high failure rate?

I've tried finding skidpad and salom numbers for the cars but came back empty handed except for this link http://www-cs-students.stanford.edu/.../handling.html

Funny how I have no issues buying +$4k cars but anything less
