    *** Dyno Results ** 2003 TL-S: i/h/e... WOOHOO!!!!! **PICS & VID**

    227.11/195.34

well it made what i was expecting, i just wanted to make sure it was running in tiptop shape. is it, but doesnt feel as fast as my accord did... so i had to find out if it was making the power it should.

for those that have been in the dark, here is my setup:

    -aem type-s coldair intake
-xs power headers(thats right... 2 of them)
    -tanabe hyper medalion catback

here is the graph for the dyno today at dnr. from what people say, they dyno lower than tech3, the other local dyno equiped shop... but whatever. i would rather rep slightly lower than actual numbers, rather than bullshit inflated ones.

and for the fuck of it, i found an old dyno from my ex-accord, and put it up against the j32.

how funny is that shit. the tl makes as much torque and the h22 did hp.

    ok, heres the vid.

How much do you think you're losing through driveline loss? I thought it would be about 35 hp? So wouldn't that mean that at the crank it's about 260ish hp?

actually no sir. manuals lose usually 15-20%... on average. auto's lose about 25%. so given 227whp, at the crank i went from 260 to 300.

25% is a rather inflated parasitic loss for an automatic. its about 15% for a manual, and about 20% for an automatic.

227WHP is pretty decent output on those for what you have bolted on.

                      Good job

And yes, everyone seems to bag on the Jseries for torque, but I have never really driven one (even the 3.0) that was really wanting for torque.

20-25% is a reasonable assumption for an auto, that I believe had an LSD didn't it?

Either way, it is still somewhere between 285-300crank HP, which is a 25-40HP improvement with exhaust intake and headers.

Probably won't see that in your CB7 without very exotic hardware.

All 2 gen TL-Ss are autos.

The newly released 07 TL-S is the first S with a MT.

                              ***** Help *****

well first off... im disappointed in some of you more knowledgable people. it took mea minute to notice, but i figured out i have a problem.

i should be making more power. if you look at the graph, right after 6k, the power levels off. its not peaking and dropping like it should. meaning... the motor is getting choked in the highend. not sure why though. ill definetly be getting a new filter, since im using a k&n, but its an old used but washed one. other than that, im considering a highflow cat or testpipe/ct o2 terminator.

in any of your expert opinions, whats the problem? most guys on tl.az run with the stock cat. is mine just clogged or is the old filter the issue?
