Smoke coming from my valve cover.

I have a 1995 Del Sol with a D16a6 in it. It was turbo when I got it but I have removed all of that and put it back to n/a for the time being. Well when I started my car today to put it up on some ramps so I could work on it I got it up on the ramps and shut it off. Then when I looked underneath the hood there was smoke coming out of a nipple on the back left side of the valve cover where a vacuum hose goes. What would cause this? It's where a hose that would normally hookup there and run to your intake tube goes. I've never had one smoke though. Hopefully this isn't too vague and sorry for not having pics but if anyone can help or needs pics just let me know. Thanks.

Well I guess what i'm getting at is should there be smoke coming from there in the first place? I understand fumes that need to be rerouted into the combustion chamber to be burned off like a pcv valve but i've never seen smoke coming from anything like that with the hose disconnected.
