    question about coolant

    So
I have a yz450f and when I stop and am not moving water comes out of the overflow because there is no air flow over the rads and thats bad.
My question is I know coolant raises the boiling point so it wont do that but if I run 100% anti freeze and none of that 50/50 crap will it make my bike run hotter because its thicker or cooler?

Doing that will probably make it worse. As far as I know, water is better at transferring heat.

I know it's hot in AZ, but I don't think it should be hot enough to cause your car to overheat when you're not moving. That suggests a more serious problem with your cooling system.

If you run only anti freeze you will overheat.
The cooling is provided by the water. Anti freeze gives you anti corrosion properties and anti freeze properties.

Perhaps this should have been posted in the "Other Automotive" section...

That might be why. Is it doing it at speed or at idle?

            What's your ambient temperature there?

I know. Its just really hard to kick because I have a wiseco 13.5-1 pistion in it. So if I dont plan on being stopped for more then a second I wont shut it off.

If it's overheating at idle, I wouldn't say it's working fine... unless that's what it's supposed to do.

Try the water wetter and see if it helps.

I'm moving this to the proper section. The next time you post in the wrong area, it will simply be deleted.

Every watercooled dirtbike will at idle if you let it run long enough because they need air flow over the rad to cool..
