    Mini Me Swap....

I have a 97' civic EX Coupe... w/ The Stock D16Y8... Well, the motor went and my freind got me a 95' D15B Non-vtec Block.. I'm going to get the car running with this set-up... Just wondering if anyone has ever driven this set-up.. Pros Cons Whatever.. I don't expect the car to be fast but I am curious to see the differences between this and stock.. Ryan...

From what i heard the gains are minimal. It raises the compression a lil but other than that thats bout it. I think it consist of a d16y block and a d16z head.

yeah, I was just wondering if it would lose power w/ the smaller block...? or like you said raise the comp. and be about the same...

Im not really sure if the1.6 head will bolt right up to the 1.5 block but t might work. Ive seen the 1.5 head on the 1.6 block or the other d16yblock and d16z head combo.

You will lose mostly torque (not that there was much to begin with).

The head and comp ratio dictate the power output more than the bottom end. It will probably be slightly peakier than a D16, but the compression ratio should still be more than adequate.

The D16Y8 intake manifold is the best flowing stock Honda D series manifold, so you have a slight advantage there. The cam will also be slightly more aggressive for the displacement.

All in all, it is a pretty interchangeable engine series. You are probably going to have the change some stuff in the oil pump area, in order to get the OBD-II crank pickup to mount correctly.

i was thinking about doing this swap on my EK but i dont know. cuz i have the head and everything else for the swap. intake mani, fuel rail, dizzy auto ecu and full wiring harness. the only thing that i have a problem with is the exhaust system. is it work it? what do u guys think? i did read on the mini me swap on a 95 civic in HONDA TUNING. they did use the d15 block and d16 head though. search it in ^^

I dunno if its worth it. Personally id think you'd be better off boosting the D. But id like to see how this goes. GL with the swap man.

Well, it's running i'll post pics sometime soon... The Low-End is Not there but, the Top end is quite decent... Def. not a fast swap but, it's getting from a to b for free.. There was alot of mitch match parts between the two but it Idles SMOOTH the engine purrs.. So def. no problem with the swapping 1.5 block to 1.6 head... I did get a check engine light but when I pulled the code it was for the igntion system... So we'll see.
