You dont need more power, your already at your goal of high 14's/low 15's with a good 60 foot. Do you go around the water box or do a burnout? How much air in your front tires? Size? Your 60 is terrible, get it down to 2.0-2.2 and your good. You already have the mph. Either practice more or get better tires.

Intake wouldnt hurt him bad enough to matter and the bigger exhaust will actually make more power. 2.25 is cripling an h22.Originally posted by h22sparkle View PostHmm I figured out your problem already. Well you were using a shortram instead of a cold air its not enough for the motor as you will be suckin in hot air from the bay to put back into the motor. Lets see the intake manifold im not sure how much that would help the motor.alot not enough imo.
The axlees dont help do better times the stock ones would have done the job without a problem but im sure you got them on a humble for future goals thats cool. As for the exhaust part I would have left it at 2.25. I usually leave the 2.50 to the fully built motors or to turbo to go towards a 3inch exhaust.
You see when you use a bigger exhaust the more lag will be there unless
you have enough pressure in the motor to significantly press it out. This would cause a alot of lag to hurt your times. Try 2.25 exhaust on the setup and then run the car trust me you wont be disappointed that is unless you cant drive not that im contesting your driving skills though.
Whats your elevation at the track? That et fits your mph perfect. Whats your weight?

Firebird is far from sea level. 1,243 feet above sea level, according to their website. So the elevation and triple digit temperature are clearly factors. Your 60' could indeed be a bit better (and Steve is right, street tires aren't made for launching.)
The intake mani is best at high RPM, and the WS2 is reputed to be quite restrictive (someone dynoed to test it, I believe... but I can't find who, or what the result was.) It makes sense, as any quiet exhaust is bound to be fairly restrictive! So that means you have an intake mani that works best at high RPM, and an exhaust that chokes the engine once you get there.
What suspension are you running? Still the AGX all around? They're not ideal, but the adjustable nature can be helpful. Next time you launch, set the rears to full stiff, and the fronts somewhere in the middle. Keeping the car from squatting back during the launch will help you maintain traction a bit better.

He doesnt have a mod that is "really" holding him back other than driver and elevation. The higher you get the slower you are going to be. 91 mph is a 15 sec car at best. Your 60' isnt THAT bad. Even driving the shit out of the car wouldnt get a 14 sec pass. You dont have the mph for it. If you are drag racing, the low end power is neglible as you should be 5000rpm and above the whole time.

yeah I've got a 90 4dr CB for DD use but I'm thinking about selling it since it's not really getting me the gas mileage as it used to for my new route for my new job. I'm only getting about 25-26 where my H22 is getting 22-23 so not much savings for driving a really boring slow car. AC doesn't work as well as my Coupe either...having R12 instead of R134a is really a godsend when its 114 outside.Originally posted by Function>Form View PostOK, but a traction bar is sure to help alleviate most if not all of the wheel-hop.
I thought you had another CB for DD use.
I avoided the water box since they really didn't hose it down that night, I probably would've damaged my car doing burnouts w/o any water. I think they sprayed glue that night?Originally posted by Sordz View PostYou dont need more power, your already at your goal of high 14's/low 15's with a good 60 foot. Front tires had 44 psi (hot) for those 15.78 passes, but I then lowered it to 38psi (hot) and adjusted my KYBs from level 1 all around to the stiffest Level4/Level 8
My tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. I think them being all season kinda hurt me, I think I'll step up to Pilot Super Sports next time since these are wearing out rather quickly, only have 9k miles on them and they're down to 5/32nds, so a 45k mileage warranty is a joke.
Weight I don't really know, probably close to stock. I've got a CF hood that deleted some weight as well as took out all my ABS stuff so that's another 25# gone. But the H22 probably added 50#Originally posted by 98vtec View PostIntake wouldnt hurt him bad enough to matter and the bigger exhaust will actually make more power. 2.25 is cripling an h22.

Yep still AGX's all the way around, my fastest run was actually with the suspension on full soft go figure. I lowered my pressures and stiffened up the shocks and it made me slower.Originally posted by deevergote View PostFirebird is far from sea level. 1,243 feet above sea level, according to their website. But, those first few runs, I had no wait in line. But after about 20 min, I had a couple cars in front and had to idle for about 10-15 min after that.

But for comparison purposes, I raced a Scion FR-S and he ran at best a 15.8, I also saw a Porsche 911 probably turbo run a 13.3
I also saw an Ecoboost Ford Flex, the one w/ the 365 hp 3.5 turbo V6 run a 14.1

You don't want to use the water box with street tires. Do your burnouts dry. The water is for slicks. Tires with street tread will hold the water, and result in a loss of traction at the line when that water wets down your launch area (for you, as well as the next guy!) I used to curse the assholes that ran their street tires in the water before me. I'd spin at launch because they made a puddle at the line.
You'll want your front tire pressure to be a little softer than it should be for regular driving, but not so soft that the contact patch buckles. 28psi cold is what I usually did. Rears should be at full pressure, maybe even slightly overfilled. You want the rear to be stiff. You don't want any more energy than necessary transferred to the back, since there's no drive wheels there. All that does is unload the front wheels, causing traction issues. That's why I said the suspension should be stiff in the rear. You want some give in the front. Too soft or too stiff in front will cause wheel hop.
I seriously doubt the H22 is 50lbs heavier than the F22. For the most part, the engine and transmission are the same dimensions, made of the same materials (the H22 bottom end is likely lighter with the FRM sleeves as opposed to the F22's iron sleeves.) The head is the only real difference, and that's only a few pounds I'm sure.

yea that temperature is definitely going to hurt your times. I recently went to the track and it was really hot out .... probably close to 90 and very humid out and couldnt run better than high 14's with 2.3 and 2.4 60ft times. My best time in my cb7 was a 14.3 @ 98mph with a 2.2 60ft last year, but i went during the fall, around september when it was much cooler and my car ran significantly faster with the exact sames mods.
yea definitely no need for the water box on street tires. i get 2.2-2.3 60ft times launching my car at around 2k-2.5k. I am on 16" dunlop direzza's dz101's (street tire) and esp traction bar, filled solid mounts (no wheel hop).
i think you can acheive the times you want with more practice and more favorable weather conditions
keep at it!

You are running this motor on a p13 ecu right?
Your trap speed should be in the 95-97mph, that's what I normally see a jdm h22 with a good 60ft
But this is fully tuned engines close to the 200whp mark
Being that you are in cali and this is a street car, then I'm thinking you are using a p13
If you are this motor is probably putting around 170whp so high 15s makes sense

If is not a civic or integra ecu, you are not running this motor to its full potential

yeah occasionally my car lags a bit even with the AC off. Kinda feels gutless until about 4000 rpm then the power rushes in and then VTEC kicks in and it feels normal. But I hate having to rev the shit outta my engine just to get going sometimes.
