So check it out:
I was on my way to the junkyard today and whilst I was driving, I take a quick peek in my rear-view and notice this nice black GXP swerving in and out of traffic. My first thought was "what an ass". My second thought was, "let's see how long I can run with this supercharged bitch". Let the games begin.
I'm in the far left-hand lane (three lane highway) and he's in the middle, coming on fast. My heart begins to beat as though it's dragging (think back-fire for the heart) and a lump the size of John Kerry's nose forms in my throat. I grip the steering wheel and take a glance at my speedo. Okay, 75 m.p.h. and he must be doing at least 90 by the way he's gaining. At this point he's about 7 or 8 cars back and still weaving, so I make my decision by pressing the accelerator so it downshifts out of OD. At that very moment, traffic cleared for a good mile stretch or so. The car gods must be pleased about something.
A glance into the rear-view reveals that he's now in the far right lane, maybe 2 or 3 cars back. I change lanes to the middle, accelerator still pressed, and click off my AC to decrease engine drag. The engine accelerates faster, and I'm doing about 90 now. He's still gaining, though obviously not as quickly. I take another peek into the rear-view and...he's not there! I quickly return my eyes to the road in front of me, then turn my head to the right to see this big, mean looking black dude looking right back at me. Fear begins to creep into me. No fear isn't the right word, it's excitement on a whole new level. I press the accelerator to the floor, and the cluster informs me that I'm doing in excess of 105. I'm startled to say the least. I didn't even know my automatic tranny could do 100, much less 105. Ironically enough, a riced-out civic comes to my rescue by doing 65 in the other guy's lane. The GXP quickly throws on the breaks and swerves into my lane. Lucky for me, my exit is already here. I pass the civic with unbridled vengence and a queer sense of greatfulness and return to normal driving speeds. My heart does a double jump and then goes back to normal beating. I relax my hands on the steering wheel to find my forearms hurt slightly for reasons I can't yet comprehend. My brain was simply that overloaded. Man what a rush.
Now before people throw the BS flag, do understand that I had a HUGE headstart on him. My car is totally unmodified, and the GXP is supercharged from the factory, pushing at least 280 hp. My A6 manifold says I have 140 in perfect condition. After thinking more and more about it, I believe the guy was playing with me, or maybe his car was seriously f'ed up. Either way, I won
