    I did a speed test...

And well... I was greatly dissapointed. Its like every time I drive my car it gets more and more gutless.

I was going downhill, with the wind BEHIND me, and the car wouldnt even push over 200km/h (like 120mp/h). On a flat land with no wind, the car barely wanted to see 180km/h. For 0-60(mp/h) this car gets worse then it is rated by factory. I wanted to cry. Stupid economy based crap. This isn't a fair comparison, but my friends Toyota Tundra can get up well over 220km/h with no wind... the speedo just keeps wrapping around... and thats a damn truck! The fact hes got like.... three times as much horse power over my car probably plays a factor....

My car is gutless and I want to kill it. Or replace this stupid engine.

And thats my rant for today.

um... i think that has to deal with the governor which limits the speed of the car to a certain speed. I think thats so police can catch people, or else you would be able to keep going faster and faster till the wind resistance equals the force of the engine output and keeps you at a constant speed.

Our cars are bricks as it is. Wind resistance starts playing a role well before highway speed.

And I am not overly concerned about blowing my engine up, because even when I drive it hard its still slow as hell, so theres no real point in driving the piss out of it. I just wanted to see how fast it went one day, and got shot down.

Remember what you are talking about here. You have a car that is now 16 years old. When it was brand new, it was not meant to be fast, it was merely an economical, dependable, and cheap car. For what it is, our cars are pretty good, but again, were not ever meant to be fast, or performance oriented cars.

That doesnt mean that we cant step up and make them quicker, and more fun to drive on a budget.

Mine will do 200 flat land, no wind...eventually.
What sort of state of tune is yours in?

And where on Earth did you find "factory" 0-60 times?

The car 15 years old, for crying out loud....how fast do you think it should be?

Car and Driver, or Motortrend... they usually test new cars and release their findings on that stuff. They've been at it for quite some time now, so I usually take those measurements to be the most accurate. Of course, the conditions are optimal and the drivers are probably more skilled than I'll ever be

aero and SteveB are right. Our cars are old. Our engines are tired. Chances are the 15 or so years of wear on our motors probably robs a good deal of horsepower. If you were to rebuild your engine and bring it back to new-stock form, it would perform better. Of course, why bother doing that? With a decent IHE setup, some weight reduction, a cam regrind, and maybe something extra like a pulley set or something... you could probably make MUCH better progress. Get into the internals and your little F can be fairly potent.

                      Hmmmm Strange

Ok my question is I've seen many threads talking about our cars being slow , I have done nothing but a Maintanance such as

                      Stage 1 Clutch
                      Alluminum Flywheel 8lb's
                      Timing Belt
                      Water Pump
                      Thermostat
                      Synthetic Oil Changes Every 3k
                      Header
                      Cat
                      Mid pipe
                      Rear Section
                      Ground Kit
                      Short Ram intake
                      CD/MP3 Player
                      Speakers All Around

And I gotta Tell yeah on the highway i bury that needle til it bounces up and down and i still have some pull in 5th gear , so im entirely confused about these threads talkin about 120mph top outs , my car has not done this to me and it a 1993 Lx Sedan With 194,000 miles on it ,, Well Im Gonna do a P&P Head and Intake and TB , with a 272 Grind and some Fuel Add ons , Then i will be basically happy , just would like to know if something is wrong with these cars , such as need a timing belt or plugs and wires , or even oil changes more regularly , dont know but my ride seems as peppy as 50,000 Miles on my Cuzins 04 Civic , ofcourse it is a D series motor soo maybe thats it , hmmm I may just look into this more

Let me tell you now, I am not whining. If i was whining you would know.

Now, I am simply stating the fact that this car is absolutely gutless. I know its old. But for fucks sake, it should pull somewhat when in the right gear. It doesn't even do that. Just goes along at its grandma like speed. I could do something with this existing engine, of course. But why the hell would I do that when I can get a swap done.

It stays in as is for now, due to the fact that I personaly think this engine is a waste of my time, yeah I know the lot of you think its fine, and it can be, but again, I'm not gonna bother. Personal preference. When the time comes I am going to take it out with a plasma cutter. No fond goodbyes for the F. Blood guts and gore is what will end this.

Either is great as I buried my speedometer this after noon after getting the vtec hooked up. I got bored when the speedo stopped some where way past 130 and just slowed down...
