    H22 vs TL type S

    Hey,

Can an H22 take a TL type S? Because Im gettin an H22 put in my car the first week or April and my Dad has a TL type S. I love driving his car and he wants to sell it to me.

I was just wondering if an H22 could at least keep up with the TL or even beat it in a race? (its an 01 TL type S btw)

    Thanks,
    -Lam

The Type S can indeed keep up with a H22 powered car:
    http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html :

    2002 Acura 3.2TL Type S 6.2 (0-60) 14.8 (1/4 mile)

closest thing to our accords (however a JDM H22 powered accord has been known to get into the mid to low 14's):
    1995 Honda Prelude VTEC 6.7 (0-60) 15.1 (1/4 mile)

      Wow Awesome Link...Thanks.

I kinda Figured that. I honestly never been in a Prelude or a car with an H22. But I do drive my Pops TL Daily. I love that VTEC :-)

Somebody didn't bother reading the rules...

Maybe I should define the word "hypothetical" and how "hypothetical" threads are not allowed.

The TL has more power. The H22 powered CB7 is lighter. The TL is most likely automatic (they didn't make them in manual, I don't believe) and the CB7 could be either. 5 speed with a good driver would be an advantage.

Regardless, I've beaten and RX-8 at the track. I've hung with an Evo, STi, and a 350Z... all with my nearly stock H22. I've also lost to a stock Maxima and a CL with 18" chrome rims. Don't be fooled by internet specs... you need to find out for yourself.

They made a 6speed for the CL Type S but not the TL Type S.

Awesome, So with an H22, I can stay with an Evo and Sti? Im pretty sure with a long road or a highway, they'd take the lead. How about an H22 vs SRT? Anyone?

              Thanks again!.

The H22 makes 190-220hp, depending on which version you get. A CB7 with a stock H22 and some light bolt-on mods is capable of running 14.8-14.5 with good tires, a decent clutch, and a good driver. With a bad driver or bad components (both, in the case of my first runs) you could be well into the 16s.

Human beings drive cars. That means a Geo Metro with a good driver has a chance (a remote chance, but a chance) of beating a Ferrari with a lousy driver. Don't worry about the opponents. Car and Driver may say a certain car runs 14.0, but chances are you'll meet VERY few that will actually match that.

Take 165whp and 135wtq and put it in a 3100lb car (estimating driver weight and random crap). That's what your car will be with an H22 swap. Take those numbers and compare to the availible specs on the cars you want to beat. That's about all you can do. "Bench racing".

Honestly, just do the swap. When you can't beat something, find out what you need to do to win. And do it. You can make 200hp to the wheels with good bolt-ons and cams quite easily.

Regular TL's yes...TL-S barely or No if you are auto

I've raced a TL-S coming back from Benecia after a toll booth. Yes the TL does have more power and torque will hawk u off the line or from a roll. I only started creeping and passing after about 85-90ish but still it was knocking at my door. This was a auto versus an auto. As far as auto h22a's versus a auto TL-S, it's almost a even match but I would believe a TL-S with bolt-ons isn't something to mess with if you are a h22a auto guy.. This was a stock TL-S by the way and I have regular bolt-ons.

A long time ago I used to race my co-worker with a normal 3.2 TL and I would get him all the time after his 2-car jump right from the line....but as soon as he bolted on a OBX dual exhaust...that car responded really well to it and I had a much harder time catching up and losing him. Similar races to compare this to was my friends 2001 V6 accord coupe with intake, header, and exhaust. It has .2 less than the TL, but as far as the weight ratio goes, me and my friend would be side by side the whole time and then when my auto shifts to 3rd i'll start to pull away easily. Weight does make a big difference in how a car performs but if the car has the right amount of torque to pull it's heavy ass then it doesn't really matter.

Anyone race a new Accord V6 yet?

I believe Rickyduckworth has raced one or two in his day. I have only driven them, and they are pretty quick.

The '06s (with a "4" HP boost run about .5 seconds quicker to 60 and through the 1/4 though than the 03-05s.) Easily mid to high 14's with a good driver. And I know for a fact there is an easy 30WHP locked up in a catback, intake, and tuning. They have those ghey close coupled cats, though and the exhaust manis are cast as part of the head.

Dont be fooled by Maximas ....They are ranked among some of the fastest Sedans....Regardless of the engine, they are very powerful beasts.

                            It's what the CB7 wishes it could've been....essentially ha!
