I say the Craftman Truck NASCAR. The racing is so close and its a lot of driver skill AND car setup. No it's not just a bunch of rednecks turning left either. For you import only guys Toyota is running a few trucks to with Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. But to prove my point, today the race in Atlanta the two trucks fighting for the win, where door handle to door handle at 170 m.p.h. and rumbing. One starts sliding and crosses the line in second sliding across the infield. Now thats racing

SCCA... requires the know-how on suspension setups and tuning, and driving skill. i know that WRC and what not also involve LOTS of skill... but i'm a street guy... so i gotta go with the road courses.

What about the D1GP? I'm not sure if that really fits in with what you have listed. Regardless, I'll be the first "other"

Drifting really seems to level the playing field a little. It takes much of the emphasis off the car (and its power, primarily) and puts it more on the driver and suspension setup. I picked up an issue of Super Street, and read the article about the first D1GP here in the US. Hearing about how Katsuhiro Ueo was able to compete against Silvias, Skylines, and RX7s was amazing. You couldn't win a NASCAR race with an AE86 no matter how good you are!

As long as I'm listing my favorite, I might as well list my least favorite as well. Any type of multiple lap, oval track racing bores the hell out of me. I know the purpose of such racing is to show the control and endurance of both car and driver at high speeds... (I won't mention the purpose of selling beer and advertising...) However, I can only get into the last 3 laps. I won't call it pointless or anything. It just doesn't interest me.

Drag racing, while very one-dimensional compared to other types, is more interesting to me. Mainly because it's quick. One car wins, one car loses, and it's clear in a matter of seconds.

WRC is my favorite. Its very fun to watch, with all the jumps and dirt, backfire and rollovers . I just wish they had a larger selection of cars, or a 2wd division.
GT style racing is also fun to watch, espeacialy when they have the imports.
Ever see the 24 hour de lemans, That shit is crazy. A 24 hour race.
Drag racing, is ok but i cant really get into it. Maybe because they have giant flames and do wheelies, and all run 8 seconds, and half the time they go up in flames and fly into the crowd. Just does'nt intrest me that much. Same with the oval shit. When ever i play nascar games, i go the other way and hit the other cars.

You guys really don't know what you are talking about do you. You say NASCAR takes no skill. You must be kidding me. It has every thing that is racing involed in it. Sure it may not be the fastest (avg. 190 m.p.h. or so) and not the longest (3 hours) or the dirt of rally. Yet every other aspect is there in high order. The skill and know how needed is past what most of you will ever have about cars and their handling, aero., tires, motor, etc. Yes the other forms of racing are fine tuned in one area yet NASCAR style is the all around winner.

I sure did'nt. Nobody said that it does'nt take skill, we just are'nt intreseted in it . I know it takes mad skill and physics, but it is'nt exciting to me anymore.

I was at the NOPI show in St.Louis last year and at the same location there is a road course track, i watched drag racing most of the day and then watched scca cuttin up the track, it was pretty cool, not alot of spectators but i loved it. I would race scca out of the choices because I love to challenge my driving skills through the twists and turns, lots of "driving"...........

what is the best form of racing, for watcing or doing????

i like auto-x, and road couses

i used to auto x the accord, but now its retired, i have a new (to me) ae86 that i will be racing this year

i think auto cross is fun and it gets you ready for other types of racing, if you you never done it and go on a road course, you will not know the racing lines, (but you can learn from watching tv too) its challenging, and at first intimidating too

I wanna do it as well, but i have so many plans with my car, i will never be able to stay in a division.

Right I can see your point with the NASCAR. I don't like it really until the trucks came along. But that is still the best all around racing. Yet WRC is pretty much like NASCAR.... the hold on for dear life with your foot on the floor.

That's why I'm all about the drifting... There's more to it than just flooring it. Winning a race can be done by either speed OR tecnique.

I can certainly appreciate the control and endurance of NASCAR drivers, but that appreciation gets old after the first few laps. Then it just gets boring until the final few laps, where the lead 2 or 3 drivers are competing for a win. I don't care about that guy in the back, who started in the back and will never advance...

Auto-X is interesting too, but I think I'd rather do it than watch it. Watching a car wind its way through cones won't hold my attention for very long. If there's more to auto-x than that, then I guess I don't know enough about it! I'd love to try it, but my suspension is still stock (for now) and I'm actually a little intimidated by it.

CART! Woot! The cars are crazy fast, sound wicked, and there is a heck of a lot more passing than F1. It is a shame that honda pulled out though. Oh well.
