ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

what do i need to know?

I wanna do my own body work and I jus wanna noe how do I get started what kinda tools do I need any tips or tricks I should noe.... there's nothin better than doin it your self in my opinion..

It all depends on how severe the body work you will be doin is. I have painted a few cars now and I just have the basics.
I do have a welder for when the rust is really bad, but as far as basic tools go:

Hammers, dollys (hard and soft), da sander (cheap orbitals work great as well), block sanders (2by4 with sand paper could work i guess) Don't forget mini fiber body filler, maxi fiber body filler, fibreglass ( thats a whole different game) I don't know, everyone has their own list of tools, tips and tecniques.

I took me a couple years to get where I'm at.

My best advice would be to grab an old door or fender (or a good one and smash it up a bit) to do some body work training. You'll find its not as hard as its made out to be, I'm not a pro but I can make a piece look good and last, you just have to be patient. Start with small dings and dents then work ur way into rust and such.

As far as final prep, "paint" if you want to attempt it yourself, I have an HVLP and a gravity feed gun, both are great but HVLP wins. For your first paint job I would recomend using Single stage paint, You almost can't screw it up and once the paint is applied and cured, take it to a shine shop and get the pros to buff and polish.
Be sure to wear a respirator when sanding and painting its nasty stuff no joke.

Ur right, about doin it urself. I don't get anyone else to work on my rides unless it's absolutely impossible for me to.

    Good luck and have fun.

    GOT F?

Bodywork is a learned trade. It is NOT something you'll learn overnight or even in a week. It takes time and a trained eye.

Painting is not as easy as sanding the car down, priming it, and spraying a coat of paint. You have to sand everything down, fill in or pull out dings/dents/etc., prime it, sand the primer get the coats even, apply paint, wet sand, buff and polish. It loooks easy but trust me it isnt.
"you can catch me swoopin 4G coupin switchin lanes" haha haha.

Don't let all the talk discourage you, the more time on prep the better the end result.

You don't have to fill EVERY imperfection and sand to a mirror finish. Come on guys, show some support, ur scarin the guy from attempting it. Its ur first project. My first project was a 96 neon. Took me three weeks day and night to complete. It was a lot of work and the first paint job I ever did. I painted it in my back yard but you would never know it by lookin at it. I'll post pics if ur interested.
