ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Windshield issue

My moms got a CB and the windshield doesn't seem to be sitting correctly because when u drive u can hear air coming thru the corners and whatnot. I can even press on the corner a bit from the inside and can actually see it moving. So can I glue that back down with removing the entire windshield? I called some windshied places and they are talking kind of reckless as far as price, I would like to just repair it myself if it isn't too involved.

I tried gluing mine, and I had no luck. I would take it to a shop that replaces windshields and ask them what they would suggest. Perhaps they could reseal it for you.

Yeah I checked a couple of places and they said they could remove and reset it but I thought the price was kind of high. Plus they mentioned a few times that there is a good chance they could break it if they do that (which I find rather strange being that they are professionals) and they won't be responsible for it. I'm always on the sceptical side, in my mind I think they might break it purposely just so I buy an entire new windshield. IDK, maybe I'm being paranoid.

I'd say your best bet for now if you want to DIY, probably remove the trim and get in there with some silicone and see if you can do it yourself to try and seal up any holes or air leaks.

Do it from inside the car preferably, without making too much of a mess.

Replacing glass is one job I do not like doing.

Last time I replaced a piece of glass, was driver side door glass in a Cavalier and I shattered the damn thing while installing it.

What do u suggest for a sealant specifically?

I'd suggest some black or clear silicone, preferably water resistant. Might even be able to get away with using a tube of kitchen & bathroom DAP, which is what I just sealed my headlights with. Its mildew and water resistant. Not sure if it comes in clear or black. My choices were white or almond at my small hardware store.

There's also some clear Marine silicone that I've used as well. Just go to the hardware store and check out what they have. All you need is a small or medium sized tube you can squeeze by hand without needing a caulking gun.

I just got my windshield replaced because water was leaking into the vehicle. I had the windshield replaced and still rain is leaking into the cabin. Good luck with the windshield!

do not use cocking or silicone.. it wont do anything and just leaves a mess when you decide to get it resealed.. i was a glass tech for awhile so i can tell you that with a gap like yours the best bet would be to get it pulled and reseal with urithane...i would suggest if youve never pulled and replaced a windshield to get it done by a professional or try n try again because without the right tools its sucksss to get done without cracking it.. good luck!!

p.s if you are going to do yourself get 2 tubes of urithane and make sure both windshield and car have none of the old shit left on with a smooth serface for the new stuff..

The problem is the windshield isn't sealed properly anymore (I'm sure that was the problem u had with your Civic). Once u got the new windshield the sealed it up nice and straight. Looks like I'm gonna probably have to do the same.

Its the glue that holds it in is what seals it.

Yeah thats what I'm saying. The seal has been compromised therefore allowing air to enter the cabin. I have to either have the windshield removed and reset or just replace it all together.
