Yes I would say it's the brake inside above the trunk. Not all came with a spoiler. The downside to removing that is if you have to get a vehicle inspection it could fail as it has a brake light that is not operating properly. Depends on the state/city laws.

I've almost rear-ended people because they didn't have a working 3rd brake light. I look at the road ahead, not at the bumper of the car in front of me, so the third brake light is the first thing I see. Not having a functional 3rd brake light is actually illegal in many areas. Not just when it comes to inspection, but you can get pulled over for it. I've experienced it!

Anyway WhiteShift, it sounds like you've seen some idiot saying "thrid brake delete", instead of "third brake LIGHT delete"... which is apparently what's causing the confusion. Most likely just a case of some lazy idiot that can't be bothered to type all the words necessary to properly convey his message!


Usually, deleting the third brake light that is in the rear window is done when a spoiler with a light is added to the car. It looks dumb to have a brake light in the spoiler AND in the rear window!

As in just remove the bulb? yes i removed mine

The whole thing? No it will look even worse if you remove the whole thing unless you get a rear deck that doesn't have one already.

As long as your spoiler has a functional light, yes.

And Tippey is correct. If you remove the whole thing, you'll just have an ugly bare spot where it should be. Since the only CB to get a spoiler from the factory was the SE, that's probably the only model you'll find with a rear deck that doesn't have the 3rd brake light installed.

you should probably check your local laws as well. IIRC, the third brake light legally needs to be there

Just to be safe, I wouldn't delete the 3rd brake light. You wouldnt want anyone to rear end you. I have the vigor spoiler with LED brake light but even LED's are hard to see during the day. I wouldn't delete it but that's just me.

what about the "brake light indicator" that says you have a brake light out? how can you remove the 3rd brake light (i installed a spoiler with led's) without the brake light indicator coming on. i dont want the bulb hanging in my trunk either, and i want to know when another light goes out

if u have a 3rd brake light on your spoiler than do what tommi did on his cb and install the 3rd brake light delete. from a SE
