ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Cheap and durable generally don't go hand in hand. Cheap and good looking as well.
I would suggest going to your local Maaco, or whatever other budget paint shop you have in your area, and ask them. That would be the cheapest possible option that would look halfway decent, and be at least marginally durable.
My local Maaco runs half price sales during the winter months. I've gotten my car painted twice (the second time because the rust repair they did the first time didn't take). The paint each time was only $250 for the $500 "presidential" job. Bodywork and prep was extra, of course. Matte paint, if they can do it in the "budget job" would likely be a bit more.

Otherwise... go buy yourself some primer and spray it yourself. You'll have a shitty-looking matte paintjob for roughly $50.

Do you have a garage and an air compressor? Do you want to learn? Do you realize that your cb7 is for all intents and purposes is never going to be a show car and you are completely comfortable with this?

If you answered no to any of the above please refer to deevergotes post.

If you answered HELL YES to all the questions then read on:

I suggest you go to Harbor Freight, buy THIS

Then go buy 2 quarts of THIS

          And buy THIS

Reduce the paint with the mineral spirits to the consistency of milk, try 3:1 then go 2:1, i really wouldn't recommend 1:1 with this.

          Paint your car flat white.

Now, you've spent roughly $80. But look at what you've done!

You've painted your own car. You've practiced a somewhat useful skill. You can build on this skill in the future and start spraying more expensive paints or play around with taping off designs, practice gun control and play around with flow/air settings. You can apply this skill to future projects!

Obviously there are about 100 steps in there that I haven't taken the time to write about. If you're serious about giving this BUDGET method a shot PM me. This can be done successfully.
