ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    JDM cluster help

I was thinking of picking up a JDM CB cluster for my 91 CB 4dr from ebay.... What should I be aware of? Is it plug and play? Installation hard?

First of all what year accord you have? It's best to get one that matches your year because it will be less of a hassle on swapping pins. All of them aren't exactly plug and play. If you get the correct year and just plug it in, you will get mixed match lights on your cluster. exp. Signaling left will make your check engine light blink etc. You will have to swap pins or splice wires.

    There are 3 different versions.

-JDM 89-90 - This one has a mechanical coil with small breadboard chip fixated on each gauge meter in the back and is definately not plug n' play. You will have to do some splicing of the wires. This is the one you definately do not want because you can't even do a "face" swap without physically taking the gauges apart (not recommended for a 1st timer) it's really hard to do if you don't know what u are doing.

-JDM 90-91 - This one is face swappable onto your usdm accord cluster but you will need to change the VSS? i believe to a jdm one because the cluster doesn't know you have a jdm face on it now. If you max out and go 180kmph on this cluster....be warned you aren't going 110mph....

-JDM Si-T - Aww yes the very rare Si-T cluster comes in the 92-93 form and is face swappable but again you will need to do something about the speed reading.

You can always still do a face swap on the jdm 90-91 or Si-T cluster and get a Apexi-Rev Speed meter and get the correct speed you are going if u don't want to mess with any jdm speed readings.

So that said, it's easier to just do a face swap rather than swap in the whole cluster because u won't have to do any wiring. The only thing you will have to worry about is the actual speed you are going because the jdm speed sensor is different than what a usdm car reads.

May I suggest getting a EDM 220 cluster? Those are direct face swappable and read exactly the same as a US cluster. You can just swap all the internals into your usdm cluster and it will work perfectly.
