ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Gettin it prepped

The paint on my car is pretty shot and i wanna have it painted.

Before i do that though i would like to sand down the entire car. Is there any problem if i use body filler to fill in some dents on the hood, doors and trunk? I want to make sure that i wont have to worry about anything down the road because of the filler (if anything can go bad).

After i bondo it all up i wanna just rattle can some flat black primer as temporary cover to keep rust away. Are there any specific brands of primer that are 'better' than others?

no problem using body filler, but if you use alot in one spot i suggest using something with fiberglass strands in it. (Mar-Glass, Bondo with long strand, etc....) Just because it's tougher and less likely to stress in weather conditions and crack.

For primer I like 2K Yellow, but i don't think it comes in rattle can. If you're doing rattle can i don't see where it would really matter, i suppose some of the "better" brands would be the well known ones, but in the end it's all gonna fade eventually. If you're going temporary just get anything really. I had a buddy who sprayed his whole car with $0.99 spray paint primer from wal-mart "temporarily", and it's held up for a year. Of course, prep plays a big factor in longevity.

If you use a rattle can get one of those little grips for the can they sell at Pep Boys, and then go to Home Depot and get a wide angle fan tip. Best combination for spray-bombing a car

i agree go with the fiberglass, but for the rust if u don't get rid of it, it will come back.

Even if you do get rid of it, or think you do it'll still come back, northeast winters are harsh. Look at all the work ATX put into his car and its still rusting. Just gotta go crazy on the underbody coat and anti-corrosive stuff and even then it'll still be back. Gotta take your car to a carwash plenty of times to make sure it won't come back, and even then, its not 100%.
