ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

do you have wax/grease remover and stuff?. ask '93accordse the mod, he wrote something about how to paint and my body kit turned out all right, side skirts were rattle canned front bumper paint gun. IMO i feel the paint gun does a much better job. if you have a air compressor just buy a gravity fed paint gun and it will turn out better

If you have an air compressor that can handle it, i suggest getting a gravity fed HVLP gun. Do a search anywhere and you will most likely find some. Some companies even have package deals where you can get your primary and a touch up gun for one low price. Since youre new and starting out you dont need anything elaborate, but make sure your gun has adjustable fan, volume, air etc. Look for ones with a regulator already on them, but if your gun doesnt come with one be sure to buy one from your paint supply company.

Heres a quick example, i just searched Harbor Freight:

Heres one with a reg already on, all you would need is a good water filter on either your air compressor or a small one before your regulator on the gun:

Heres a package deal thats not bad, but you would need to buy your reg.

Now, i dont know anything about Central Pneumatic, but for the price i would give it a try. Unless you want the best then start looking into Devilbiss, Sata, or Sharpe guns.

also don't people usually paint in those rooms where the air is sucked out constantly or something like that? Where do you usually paint your car? just in your garage or one of those rooms designed to paint

thoese speacil downdraft paint booths cost about 8o grand :P but if you have an inclose garage with a fan to pull the fumes and overspray out you can just paint it in there wet down the walls and the floor before you start spraying or you might kick up some dust on your car.. let dry for a couple hours and then go pull the tape.... damn thoese downdraft booths are nice as shit though...

i built my own paint booth, but i also paint out of my garage. The paint booth i built uses an overhead fan, and when im in the garage i have plastic hung over the entire roof and 2 custom built fans in the roof that pull air. Since most overspray goes up before settling down on the car it helps to put your fans overhead instead of in the windows or something. Unless of course, you can afford a downdraft booth.

The water filter is to, well, filter water out of your air. Every compressor creates condensation in the tank which eventually will filter in thru your line, out your gun and onto your paint. Then you have to wait till that section is dry, sand it out and re-paint. Its the same condensation that makes you have to purge your tank every so often. There are better dry air systems out there depending on the money, but for the hooby-ist garage painter i would look at something like a single-stage filter.
