ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Does original fender color really matter?

I was in the parts garden aka Crazy Ray's (Jessup) this morning and came across quite a few fenders for my car. My question for you all today is, with condition being equal does any color have an advantage over the others? There were black, burgundy, gold and white fenders that were all suitable candidates. I'd like to know which one, if any works better to paint green metallic (BG-26M-3)?

    Thanks,

either one you get doesn't matter your going to have to strip it down to bare metal and prime it first if you want it done right Whichever one you get is up to you but I would say go with the best looking one since color doesn't matter if your re painting it
    Maple50175 - you're annoying =P
Brandoncb7 - I don't mean to come across like an ass but I see why you irritate Aaron now.
JoshM - Crotch rocket = chick magnet.

the original color doesn't matter. You don't want to strip the whole fender down to bare metal. if the fender has no rust on it, sand it with 400 grit paper and a sanding block or sander until all the shinyness is gone. if it has rust fix it and prime the area, and sand with 400. dont forget the edges! clean dust and dirt off and spray a sealer, then paint it.

Paint should not exceed 10-12mil's, which gives you room to do two or more paintjobs over factory. Nothing, not even baremetal is better than using a good stock base to paint over. If it's already sticking then theres no reason to strip it, lollercoaster! Plus you have to add to the bill the cost of Self Etching Primer.. To do it right, on top of bare metal..

Choosing a lighter color than your original is always a good idea as you will cover it with gray, it hides well, but the lighter the color, the less it takes. Make sure to have them (or you) spray it with an equal amount of orange peel or a litte more so that it can be wetsanded to match... Having a showcar finish on one fender of an entire car looks as bad as mismatched shades...
