ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

i used color-matched o'reily's paint. lightly scuff the surface of the plastic, then spray with primer (you can use adhesion promoter, but i didnt), sand the primer down, then spray with the paint. this is what i did, others may tell you i did it wrong, but it is working for me.

edit: i only did the hard plastic insert, not the whole dash.

SEM paint is good stuff. I painted my dash last year with SEM color coat. Anyways, for the plastic trim piece, I removed it from the car, and wiped it down with rubbing alcohol. Then I sprayed a few light coats of the color, and once it had dried for a couple hours(to be on the safe side) then i sprayed it with a gloss clear coat(you can use flat clear if you want). SEM paint is a permanent coating but it dries flat and relatively vulnerable to abrasions if you don't protect it with a hard clear. As for the vinyl part of the dash, I would use the same procedure, except don't use clear coat. The paint soaks into the vinyl better than it does into the plastic and doesn't need a clear coat. Hope this helps.

there are 2 screws above the cluster, one screw behind each of the 3 vents (pop the vents out with a straight screwdriver), one behind the coin tray, two below the a/c controls, one behind the cigarette lighter, and one or two behind the ashtray. it sucks to take out for the first time, but after that its pretty much a cinch.

The center dash insert and cluster surround has some clips on it near the vents or climate control, if I'm remembering correctly. You'll need to pop those off with something like a metal spatula.

As far as painting goes, I've done plastic pieces and door panels. I sanded all the vinyl down until it was flat, real nice and smooth, then primed and painted with Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric paint. Stuff works grear, but as is true with most paints, it needs a protective coat, be it clear or matte coat. (I dont think Duplicolor makes a Vinyl matte coat, but matte SureGuard should work, its made to be used on paper prints that are flexed)
