ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    dimming lights????

well i have a kenwood amp powering my 2 10" pioneers subs supposed to be rated at 1400watts together...they hit good until the sub box broke...i dont have a cap,and i know i need one but my ? is if i install the cap, what size would i need as well as would i need a high output alt. to put an end to the dimming of my headlights as well as all my lighting??

a friend of mine had the same problem. It's all the power that the sound system is taking out of the battery. if you turn it up too loud the lights will dim.
so all i can really tell you is don't have on too loud while you drive.
that's all I got anybody have better suggestions? I don't think mine is all that helpful. lol

I say high output alternator. I had a 2 farad cap on a system that was only 1300 watts rms and my lights dimmed. So I got a high output alternator and now everything is straight.

you need a better alternator with caps, caps store power but only can store what it is given.

imo upgrade the factory grounds and clean em up those basically do alot for a system, even if you do have "2 yellow top batteries" you only have 1 small alternator that just cant charge both batteries.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

caps store power for a very very short time... and release the power very quickly and then it has to charge back up. yes i know i have small alt but i havent had any issues .... i have up graded all my grounds and power wires for my car. now i do plan on getting an alt of about 220 or 280 so i can run 2 2500d's if i wanted....

my point i was making is caps do more harm then good from what i have seen... getting a system battery is a big help but yes in the future u need to get an alt...
