ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Speakers recommendations needed.

Hey guys. The speakers I currently have installed are very crappy and 1 out of 4 doesn't even work. I was wondering what is a cheap but good set of front a rear speakers. Something they would sell at BestBuy and similar stores. I'm really not looking into something big at the moment. Just something that's sounds good and can handle a little bit of extra base setting.

    Thanks.

Don't know what Accord you have so I suggested a nice pair of some 6x9s too.

These would set you back about 130.00 shipped.

Sony xplodes at wal-mart are cheap but sound decent compared to other cheap brands that sound like crap.

                Audio Man

Pioneer is the best for a low reasonable price, especially the 6x9. Now if you want to run with the big boys i suggest 6.5 components up front and 6x9 minimum 3 ways in the back.

Also keep in mind a good head unit is also very important that plays a big role in how much watts your radio pushes out to the speakers.

If you want to spend some good money like about $150 a pair i recommend minimum Polk Audio and other high end.

dont know what accord u guys have, but 6x9 dont fit in the back or anywhere in the car. for quality sound purposes u should be using the proper size speakers. infinity reference r pretty cheap and good sound, but if u want excellent sound u need to spring for components. at least in the front. ur head unit makes a big difference in sound as well. dont know what ur running there, but i like alpine.

I know for a fact that Best Buy sells a Pioneer Package that includes four speakers - two sets of 6.5" component speakers, with their most basic head unit. The HU comes with CD and one AUX jack for an ipod or any other 1/8" audio jack input. If I remember correctly, this package is sold for $89. Definitely not a bad deal, because if you purchased these items alone it'd be more expensive.

Are the speakers in your car aftermarket? Were they just installed poorly - just by splicing the cables? If you're swapping out stock speakers, you're going to need some proprietary Honda audio jacks that connect the stock wiring to speakers. They're plug and play, so no splicing is required. They go for like $10 a pair at most car audio places, but you can pick them up at a junkyard for hella cheap if you're not able to reuse the ones that are in the car.

And as others pointed out, speaker size makes a difference. 6x9 speakers ARE an option for the rear deck, but you have to pull the pods from an EX or SE.
                    My pictures/photos will return soon...

I have a 1991 EX Coupe. So basically I need 6.5s for the front and 6x9s for the back since it is an option for the Ex right? I also forgot to mention I already have a unit. It's a JVC KD-G430. I'm also planning on buying a small amp later on so I need some speakers that would handle it well. So far Alpine and Pioneer seem to be the most recommanded. Any other suggestions? Thanks I really appreaciated it.

As for the speakers I currently have. They do seem to be aftermarket. They're not original. It has a brand but never took a look at it close enough. I doubt it's the installation. I mean a lot of things in that car hasn't been installed with care but I'm pretty sure the speakers themself suck bigtime so I really need to upgrade.

                      Any other recommendations?

Bro, go with Phoenix Gold Rsd 6.5" co-ax.
Cheap and very crisp and great midbass.
I have them currently and I have had pioneers.
On ebay they are about 65 shipped.
                        Sound great.
