ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I don't have any pics of my current setup seeing as how I don't have one. I bought an Explorer cause winters suck in Montana and had a crap Xplod 1000 watt amp connected to some 12" Kenwoods in a ported box. Amp over heated all the time. I figure a few tens should be fine for that amp cause I'll be damned if 12s will actually let it work. The amp is still hooked up but I don't have any subs to hook up to it anymore

I do have some pics of the stereo in my Accord somewhere. I'll post 'em up as soon as I can find them. Mind you the Solobaric is currently seized up and the amp no longer works I need to buy new a new amp and send the Solo in for a repair.

EDIT: Here's a pic of my deck at least to stay somewhat on-topic :P

The size of the sub doesn't determine whether or not the amp works or not.
Anyway, what kind of speakers do you have up front?

The amp desn't work because someone took it while I had it out of my car and they dropped it and 5 capacitors are no longer attached to the main board.

The sub itself is seized up anyway so you are correct, the sub doesn't effect the amp. Oh wait, yes it can. If the subs are pulling too much of an amperage draw off of the amp the amp cannot provide enough stable power and then the amp over compensates and POOF! Amp overheats and then it goes into a thermal protection mode and shuts down for a few minutes. When I had the solobaric hooked up for some reason it never did this, but then again I am thinking that it why it seized. Underpowered it. Either way I need a new amp and some new subs :P

Wow that sucks. Do you know how to solder?

You're on the right track except subs don't pull current from the amp. If they did subs would come with fuses, lol. As far as overcompensating for the amp not being able to deliver enough power to the subs usually leads to clipping...aka distortion. Also, you can't blow an underpowered sub...that's usually also related to clipping.

I am terrible with welding and soldering. I can do it, but the results are not of the best quality. I apologize for my wording, I was trying to think of the right words to describe what is going on and that was the best I could do lol. Regardless though, the RMS on that Sony amp is horrible. It says 1000 watt (yeah if lightning strikes my Explorer maybe) but I am guessing that it is maybe pushing 350 tops even bridged. I was told by the stereo shop here in town that the reason the solo seized up was because it wasn't getting enough power. I have heard that underpowering is as bad as overpowering, but I do know that I am currently without a stereo other then the factory stuff in my Explorer for now.

I am thinking of taking the deck out of my Accord for now and swapping it into the Explorer, but IDK how well that would work seeing as how I'm having issues with the deck as described in another thread.
