ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Does anyone upgrade the 4" fronts?

Hi i'm colin and i'm a new Accord CB7 owner!!

I'm in the midst of replacing the stock stereo. My CB7 is a Canadian EX-R, so the front speakers are 4" and the rears are 6"x9". I have already converted the rears to 6.5". Now I looked through this forum and I see that most people custom fit 6.5"s in the front instead of the 4" bracket that comes on the EX (US) or EX-R (CAN).

I was simply wondering if anyone has decided to stick with the 4" speakers and upgrade them? I was looking at some Infinity Reference 4022i, i heard them at the local audio shop and they sounded quite good for 4".

Let me know what you think.

Youll get better sound out of a 5.25 or 6.5. Get a pod out of a lx that holds a 6.5

YTF do all of you seem to think that when it comes to speakers the rule of thumb is "the bigger the better"? Thats BULLSHIT!!!!

If you want to keep your 4" speakers and upgrade them go for it. I would personally throw a 4" component set in instead of a coaxial that way you have the ability to "aim" the tweeter and it wont be blocked by your or the passengers legs.

There is a reason that speakers are placed and sized the way they are. Its a soundstage. If you pick the right speakers and adjust your audio controls correctly the sound will be almost like your there.

Dont take everyones advice on getting larger speakers because it is BS and the 6x9 vs. 6.5 is a myth also. The 6x9 can get lower in frequency and produce a larger sound wave. The cone on the 6x9 is only used for low frequencies thats why there are tweeters (2way) and tweeters and midranges (3 ways).

i just cut out the pod with a hacksaw until i could get a 6.5 to fit
haha in all seriousness though, bigger isnt necessarily better. I don't really know much about 4"s but im sure if you went for something nice as opposed to cheap you'll be happy

They are good for upper midrange but lower midrange and below is going to mostly come from your rear 6.5s. Music without a strong lower end tends to sound empty, imo.

i have to totally disagree, not many if any 4" can compete in cb7 with the drown out of the rear deck 6.5 or 6x9's. ive yet to year a 4" component set that can keep up with a good set of 6.5" components unless use in a 3 ways set up consisting with a 6.5"(mid bass) 3-4"(mid range) and .5-1"tweeter. Honestly the 4" pods suck and do nothing when it comes to imaging, its an old design that at the time might have been smart but unless you turn the rears down, the front will always get drowned out, even in stock configuration. Bigger isnt always better, but in this case id have to say it is.

i have to completely agree with you on this one... in this situation a 5,25 or a 6.5 will be better than a 4 .... you can go to a junk yard and get the 6.5 pods of of an lx and problem solved.
