I was thinking of running one 12" sub in my cb7 to get a nice clean bass. Is a 12 too overpowering and will it rattle my trunk?

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

it suits me just fine...
Im running a 12" MTX Thunder series 5500 in a ported box tuned to 33mhz, powered by a mono-block amp at 500watts RMS. It's barely cranked up at all and it hits hard enough to be uncomfortable, but i have it set at a good range.Originally posted by koreanuso View PostI was thinking of running one 12" sub in my cb7 to get a nice clean bass. If i really wanted to go nuts (which i have) i could juice it so much that it would piss off most people in a 300yd radius...but i need earplugs for that and i bet some interior pieces would start to come loose after a while!
It will rattle unless you use sound deadener or you tune it just right. Or blast it so you just can't hear the ghetto rattle no more!
If clean is what you want, get a sealed box and run a mono-block somewhere in the 150-400 RMS range. Are little CB's contain most of the noise, so it wont take much to be nice n loud.

if you want nice and clean, a pair of 10's will be perfect. rule of thumb i've always trusted: "two tens for accuracy, two twelves for thump"Originally posted by koreanuso View PostI was thinking of running one 12" sub in my cb7 to get a nice clean bass. by the way my trunk rattles like a mofo with a pair of 10s, i couldnt imagine running a pair of 12s without some extensive rattleproofing.

thats cool i even a 10in sub rattle the trunk i got two 12in and it rattle but what do you think about dynamic i think thats how you spell it 10 years ago they came out with a paded board thats help the reduces of rattle and now they have a spray can or something that work better then the original pading and the spray goes everywere so my bro had spray the shock strews and around there and the corner of the trunk.... so the only thing that rattle is the lincen plate and really reduce rattle and clear sound of bass what do you think of that good for you???? so any sub will bump hard but the bigger the better lol and our trunk can hold it, its really big lol

It doesn't really matter wat size sub u have. It realy comes down to witch type of sub? Its peak power? And the amp and seting you put it to. And if your worried about rattle. If you go to your local bestbuy or car audio store they should carry something called dynomat.Originally posted by koreanuso View PostI was thinking of running one 12" sub in my cb7 to get a nice clean bass. Dynomat is a mat ther line the inside of ur trunck wit (behind the panels) were no matter how much bass you push you trunk will not rattle. And it also helps if you screw you lisence plate on tighter cause a lot of peaple mistake the liscence plate rattle for there trunks!..
Good luck
