ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

optima battery or capacitor/2nd power cell

what do you guys think would be better getting an optima battery which is designed for car audio use and a 4 year guarantee warranty for about $200, or a capacitor or a 2nd battery in the trunk which would be a little less money, but my current battery is gettin up on 2 years old anyway, im running a 4 channel alpine amp and a p1000 at 1 ohm, so im drawing alot of power, and i get a good amount of dimming but only when im pushing em pretty good, oh and i have a new alternator, its no high output but it puts out good. what do you guys think?

yeah kenetics are good, my friend is pushing over 1000 watts on an otherwise stock electrical system with just one of those power cells and no light dimming, but my dilemma is that im gunna need a new battery soon anyway so i might as well get a good battery and save about a 100 bucks, rather than get an alright battery and a power cell. but i wont need it for a few months

I'd say get you an Optima battery as well as a 2-farad cap. That should do you good for years to come.

I'd say get a cap, but only if your goal is to be pissed off at yourself for wasting money.

2nd battery in the trunk is your best bet, unless you can do an upgraded alternator.

To me a cap is a waste of money... Save a bit and invest in a good battery..

I just got mine and I am very happy so far.

I'm making a 1000F capacitor bank just because. If it doesn't work for audio, I can always use it for something else

4ch 1000w peak is NOTHING. that would mean you will either be running 2 250RMS subs or 4 125 RMS subs/speakers. i was running 2 450 rms subs w/ a 900w RMS Orion 2ch on 4g wire on a regular battery, oem alt, oem wires ( at the time ).

you shouldnt need anything to be completely honest. run a cheap cap if you want but honestly my lights never dimmed assuming your entire ignition system is healthy.

I agree with this for a battery and do the big 3 with some 0guage wire and you should be good.

i didnt even pay attention that it was 1000 peak. thats what im runnin which is 500 rms, and i didnt even do the big 3, only the grounds(big 2 lol) and my lights dont dim any more. and if your skeptical about it like i was, take a good look at your wiring. the cable that goes from the engine block to the drivers side motor mount is probably like 12 gauge, and so is the one from your negative to the chasis. and while your at it, look at your negative cable, mine was good from the top, but where it connects to the transmission it was all fuked up so i wounded up getting a 2 gauge cable from walmart for like 10 dollars, and used the old battery cable as my new grounds, (the good parts of the cable) and i no longer have dimming lights.

amp is 1000 rms 3600 max "as it claims", and alpine amp is 200 rms. im running 2 amps, but with a new battery up front and a 2nd battery up front ill be fine. thanks for all the input guys
