ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Keyless entry on my 1991 LX

So i bought my car from a used car salesman, he gave me one door key and one ignition key, no remote. Well it is cold outside and it drives my girlfriend crazy that I will lock my car to go into a gas station, because when we come back outside she has to wait for me to unlock my door, open it, then hit the power lock button to unlock her door. Did my car originally come with keyless entry? If not, is it cheap and easy to buy and/or install?

only oem security was an option when the car was new for coupes/sedans. wagons had keyless factory in ex trims.

easiest is just get an aftermarket unit. oem security is hard to find. i took a while to source all the stuff for mine.

to see if you have oem security, look under the DS seat for a black box that says 'honda security system'

not sure. never had one and dont want one lol. if you do get one, go to a reputable shop to have it installed. nothing but problems happen from having a half ass alarm installed.

if you look in the junkyard enough, you'll find an oem keylees entry. once you get the brain and pull the harness, you'll have to order the remote with the two chips from honda. that part will run about $90.

              later.

I bought my keyless entry setup for $15.

Took about an hour to install. Do you have basic wiring skills?

I had to run a wire from my radio to the fuse box ignition power, and from the radio to constant, i also wired up my subs and amps in both my bronco and my car. rewired my whole stereo in my bronco (its a 78 model, wires were shot). but i think an alarm system with keyless entry is waaaaay more difficult to do than wiring up a few speakers, theres relays and stuff involved, right? on a scale of 1-10 im probably about a solid 5. i can run wires, but when it starts getting technical, im at a loss.

Well are you looking for something with an alarm? Or do you just want keyless entry?

Loads of people on here will tell you to just get a system with an alarm because your car will be safer (and they're completely right if you live somewhere where someone will want to steal your stuff) but if you're only looking for keyless to keep the lady happy, I could point you in the right direction.

I live in a pretty calm area, not alot of reported theft. and whenever there is, the person went into walmart with keys in ignition with the doors unlocked. To be honest i just want keyless entry. makes it easier to get in and out quicker when its cold. and i dont have to fumble with my keys when its dark! oh and did you have to remove your valve cover to paint it? (stupid question i know) but i could mask it off and block the rest of the compartment and paint mine if that would be a good idea. im going blue :O

This is what I bought a while ago and still use every day:

                            http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Universa...item1c22320e45

Installation is pretty flippin easy. Pull the trim for your fuse box inside the car (down near the pedals), under the carpet you'll see a fat wiring harness with blue tape around it. That tape is holding a pair of wires attached to a gray plug. One of them is the unlock wire (black/red), one of them is the lock wire (black/white). Cut the plug off and just connect the wire to the appropriate wires on the keyless entry box.

And yeah, you should probably take your valve cover off to paint it lol. Especially since it's only 4 nuts holding it on and the gasket most likely needs to be changed anyways. It's probably the easiest thing you'll ever do on your car.

I need to fix the plug oil well leak thats really common in these sohc motors... so i might just Paint the Valve cover when i remove it to fix those o rings.... hmmm and as far as the keyless entry wiring goes, theres tons of wires on that box that comes with the kit where do all of those plug? do i only use the black/red and black/white ones? where do the red and black wires connecting to the blue teardrop looking thing go?
