ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Help Reprogramming (Dealer?) Alarm

So our CB7 came with an alarm installed when we bought it from the original owner. I'm not sure if it was dealer installed, or aftermarket, but it worked for a long time after we bought the car. Then either the battery died, or was disconnected, and it wouldn't work anymore. Then we lost the remote, years went by, I found the remote, and more years went by. I've decided to finally stop putting it off and figure out how to get my keyless entry back.

I suspect the remote may have been dealer installed because we have records from the PO of the dealership reprogramming the alarm system. I don't really want to have to go to the dealer and pay $30 every time I disconnect the battery though, so hopefully someone can help us out.

    It uses this exact remote

The alarm brain looks like this

I couldn't find a manufacturer or model # on the brain anywhere. I tried searching the serial # on the 12V a while ago and didn't have any luck. There is a toggle switch that is connected to the alarm, that I suspect I will have to use to program the remote, but that is basically the only other part to the system (other than sensors, horns, etc.)

Do you have anything showing what dealer may have installed the alarm? even though it was 20 years ago, they should still have records of what brand alarms they installed

looks like a "karr" alarm or "loctronics" Definitly aftermarket, but not sure if it was dealer installed. Dealers who install them always sublet out the job to another company.

Get a new alarm....only 200 installed for a good one. If you were local, id do it for you.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

      Retro!

Audiovox Prestige or the dealer version Karr

Try this from Prestige in the mid 90s
        turn key to on
        flip valet switch on-off, on-off, on-off
        led will flash once
press transmitter button until long chirp is heard
        turn key off

Thanks Lucifer, that did the trick! Of course I've now figured out that the driver's door lock actuator isn't working, so while the alarm and keyless entry are operating as they should, only 3 doors lock and unlock. Oh well, another project for another day.

Nope, I've tried locking and unlocking with the door open and closed. The power lock switch inside the car won't lock or unlock the driver's door either (even when it's closed). Thinking back it's probably been like that a while, I just thought it was part of the "can't lock yourself out" precautions.

it probably an aftermarket one the dealer installed i know mine and a few others alarms have a button that you press to reset the alarm.like you turn your key over wait like 5 secs then at the same time you hit the button and one on your key pad and it resets itself
