ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Reverse Light Trigger Wire

    Hey all,

I have a 93 CB9 MT and over the weekend I changed my old single din stereo for a decent Kenwood double din that has all sorts of features.

While I had everything apart, I figured it would be nice to plan out where I would wire up the backup camera wires.

From the HU, there is a purple wire that is suppose to be hooked up to the reverse trigger wire...

My question is... is there a wire in the cabin, near the driver-side kick panel that I can tap this wire into? I know I can just run extra wire towards the rear of the vehicle and tap into the grn/blk wire going to the reverse light plug but I'm trying to avoid this. This purple wire only needs power when the car is in reverse. I tried checking the 1st harness connection coming from under the driver-side door sill to the kick panel, but I'm getting constant power. I couldn't find one that would power on when only in reverse.

Here is where I was looking (am I looking in the wrong area?):

Anyone know which wire it is? Or, how are you hooking up your reverse trigger wire?

      Thanks from the diagram, illinois_erik!

I'm still not sure why I would be measuring constant voltage from the connection at the main wire harness & the floor wire harness if the switch is at the transmission case?

I shouldn't get any measurement unless it's in reverse, right?!

Someone school me on this, please! LoL!

Your best bet is to check continuity with a multimeter, to see if you got the right wire traced back. There could be two or more of green/black wires, just with no dots, one dot or two dots. Those would be completely different wires!

I'd suggest you unplug the reverse switch, get one end of the multimeter on the green/black wire of the plug and the other side to the wire you were checking for voltage inside the car.

I'm sorry i can't provide more information, but the Accord chassis is completely new to me. All i can tell you about are Civics and Preludes

The weird thing about Honda is that they wired stuff in the japanese way - the positive side is always live, and the switch is on the ground side. It's called a "ground switched" circuit. You need to tap into the circuit AFTER the switch, between the switch and ground, since this part of the wire is only Live once the switch is connected. That's probably why you are hitting constant signal, most of the wiring related to the circuit is actually live, and then a short piece is actually switched.

Find a spot in the harness where a Green/black wire is directly next to a solid Yellow wire. These together would be the reverse light, but unfortunately I don't know which plug they appear in. Wherever they go though they are always next to each other. I'm pretty sure the Yellow would be positive/constantly Live, and the green/black becomes energized once the shifter is put into reverse.

Worst comes to worst, you can always wire it up to the actual switch on top of the transmission, in the engine bay

The wiring is driving me crazy... LoL!

Still haven't figured it out. I just received my backup camera in the mail today. Been trying to figure out how to wire everything so that I can also view the backup camera while driving (not just in reverse).

Also contemplating on were to put the switch? On dash, near light dimmer? Near the e-brake? If I want an illuminated switch?

            Any opinions?

Okay so with reverse lights, usually on the RCA cable for the Backup camera, there is a small red wire. That connects to the purple wire.

Then you connect the red wire on the other side of the camera to your reverse light socket. Figure out which wire gets 12+ when its in reverse. Then it works.

              Thats how i did it.
sold! But here's my build thread for those interested.
