ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Mondojackel correct me if i'm wrong or way off here(I know you know lots about car audio), but maybe could the problem be that its distortion of the sub that is making the sub sound popy, because when i had my subs under powered and i cranked it up, it sounded really shitty. Maybe its not even that its underpowered but just bad wiring, bad signal, something causeing some sort of distortion.
*edit* could it also be that the wires from the plugs to the cone are possibly hitting the cone as the bass hits hard? cause i foudn that happened with my 6x9's and it made them sound shitty and so i had to make sure the the wires by the cone wouldn't hit the cone as it moved. I donno, these are all possibilties.Last edited by raththomas; 04-19-2006, 04:32 AM.

you said you made the box right well if you did i would try sealing the box up better try fealing for air escaping through the sides and if i were you i would try and push that power running the sub up to at least a 350 or higher and if all else fail your sub could just be a P.O.S (its sony)

as far as what you mentioned before the edit, all are possibilities of distorted sound, but, since we lack information, and arent there to inspect it ourselves, we cant really tell him whats going on..Originally posted by raththomasMondojackel correct me if i'm wrong or way off here(I know you know lots about car audio), but maybe could the problem be that its distortion of the sub that is making the sub sound popy, because when i had my subs under powered and i cranked it up, it sounded really shitty. as far as your edit, i doubt thats the problem..a sub moves with much more force than a 6x9..it has a much larger motor structure and such, so i think that if its hitting the terminals, that it would just either punch through the cone, or bend the terminals back..although i recommend that he at least look at the back of the cone for some scrubbing/scrape marks.
