ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Stereo (w/ CD Player!) Removal

    Yo,

Regrettably my 93 EXR came with the CD player option. Evidently this means that the gold hex screws above the ashtray holder (shown in this DIY and in my Haynes manual) don't exist.

Any tips on how to get the deck/cd player out would be great

    New Brake Pads

    That doesn't make any sense.

I just took mine out last weekend, and those bolts you're talking about are the only things that hold in the radio and the tray thingy-ma-bob. I have the service manual, and there aren't any other bolts, screws, clips, braces, or whatever in the diagrams.

If you can't find any other metal objects holding it in, then consider the possibility that the dude-ski who had it before you super-glued the bastard in.

fuk that, go from the back of the deck, take out the 2 8mm screws or phillip that holds it in, and it will slide out.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

          @Cats:
Nice ride ^.^ Regrettably, since I have a CD player, the bolts don't seem to exist.

          Pics:

          Where the bolts should be
A shot I took from behind the stereo.
I suspect that one/two of these bolts has to come undone, but how the hell do I get them out? No screwdriver I know of it going to fit in that space.
(Reference pic showing where the behind shot was taken from)

          Hit reply too soon.

          Thanks for the help guys![/edit]

I had the cd changer option in my cb7.. so I thought I was screwed to.. but a 10mm or 8mm can't remember which one joint socket with extension is all you need to get those two gold bolts out.
always out numbered never out gunned..

yes there are 2 8mm bolts 1 on each side, you will need a 8mm socket and an extension also, you will see them close to were the bars which are behind the radio, when u look behind the radio they face down towards you, they are gold in color, you just have to look up at an angle and you will see them, then once you take them off, the radio slides out.

wow....now that's one funny thing here..

if there are no bolts on that place, so....only the bolt from behind hold the cd player?

Since he has the CD Player its a different bracket, i used to have the OEM CD Player on my CB.
I'll try to scan/post the directions.

Look at illustration 1 and 2.

                        1. bracket A has 3 (8mm)
Then it has 2 more screws (8mm) at an angle as shown above.

                        2. the 3 (8mm) screws are going to be in those slots.

Also, If u have taken out all those screws and it still doesnt want to
come out, then i guess you are going to have to take off two more screws (8mm).
They hold the radio/cd player assembly to the brackets.

Ahhh ^.^ I get it now. Thanks Jak!
The 3 bolts that are usually holding the thing in are gone, so it looks like I'm going to have to get out those two stupid 8mm bolts from the side. On the plus side of things, the bracket assembly is much simpler than I'd guessed it would be, so this shouldn't be too hard.

Thanks again! (Will post back when i have the damn thing out.)

thats pretty much what I had to deal with when it came to pulling my deck with the changer option. believe me people it may look hard but its a snap with the right extension.
