ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Speaker pods! Where or HOW can I get those?!

Speaker pods! Where or HOW can I get those?!

I have a '91 accord DX with no speakers installed in the rear deck, so that means I have no speaker pods/brackets.

I just got two 6.5" speakers but i cant mount them until I get these pods.

Where can I get them besides a junkyard? I could go there, but there are two problems:
    1) My local junkyards wont allow me in cause im not 18 (im 17...so stupid!!!!)
    2) I'm thinking that getting the pods from junkyard cars will leave them looking kinda nasty and dirty.

So i'm looking for a place to get them. I read in other threads that i can go into the dealer or a local audio store/installer (would Best Buy have universal ones or something?) and get them there...but what exactly do i ask for? "speaker pods" or "speaker brackets" or what? And would I be able to easily install these?

I'm so confused and frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Look for my thread in the Parts Wanted forum, i purchased my set from williamsv or something like that, but there are a few others in the thread who replied with the pods, so hit them up!

hey man just make yourself a mount out of of some aluminum sheet metal and a custom cover that comes with the speakers, and go under it with some sound dampening material too.

Because everyone knows how to do that!

I kid, I kid! But seriously, just get your dad to go in for you. Maybe you have some 18 year old friends. Junkyard is really your best friend, don't underestimate it. Looks are far down on the list of concerns. Function over form my friend. Or you could wait for them to pop up in the FS section. You may not be able to post, but you can PM people. Also might want to look at ebay.

I wish i was able to do that! Maybe...I can come up with a sort of crude plan...you mean like get a piece of sheet metal, screw it in to the underside metal frame, and mount the speakers onto that? Could work...but i dont think i have the tools to do that...and by "sound dampening" do you mean baffles?

Yeah, right now it looks like thats what im gonna hafta do. Darn it, damn rules.
Are the pods easy to remove?

And would I be able to buy these from a store? What would I ask for?

          Thanks.

If you want to make it look factory, get the grills. If you dont really care, just go inside the trunk, and cut the hole for your speakers. Then get in the back seat and get some metal screws and just drill the speakers with the aftermarket grills you get with the speakers.

There are three, maybe four bolts holding the entire basket down. They aren't difficult to get to, so easy is a far understatement for getting the baskets out of the car.

Ok. That's good to know. Thanks.
Now I just need to find a good junkyard.

Has anyone here ever bought their pods from the dealer or a store?

                Thanks.

Yeah just check around the forum, but the junk yard is a good deal. Just take someone 18+ and then clean the pods when you pick 'em up.
                    Good luck.

Don't worry about store-bought ones. Get factory ones so they look better.

That would be great, but my interior is brown...could i come back to you if i can't find any brown ones at a junk yard? how much you want for them? thanks for the offer!

Yeah, I'm kinda leaning towards the Honda ones. The guys at BestBuy just said to plop them in directly, but i know that wont work.

Junkyards with an 18+ policy will let me in with an 18+ "chaperone" right? They'd better....

Junkyards shouldnt have any problem with you and a chaperone .. I highly doubt
that they'd be concerned without one to be honest ...

I sent you a PM offering you my pods for $25.00 .. however, upon further inspection,
I've noticed a lil crack in one .. (in the plastic mesh when you flip it upside-down)
But when you install them, you'll never notice it at all .. they come apart easily,
and could be sprayed to match your color code .. I'll let ya have um for $20.00
plus the shipping to wherever you are .. let me know, and if you cant find any ..
I'll be happy to send these out ..

Ok, I'll check the junkyard then. I'm going this weekend (hopefully).

Naw, as long as they look good, a small interior crack won't matter.

$20? Cool. If I find them in a junkyard and they are more than $20, then I'll probably get them from you.

                            Thanks again.

Does anyone know where I can get speaker brackets/adapters that converts a 6x9" hole to be able to mount a 6.5" speaker?

I'm looking for a store, but [a safe] online site would be fine.
