ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Stock stereo problems

I dont know if this has been posted or not, but the search button isnt working.

I have a stock stereo in my car, and sometimes the speakers will go on and off. The radio will stay on, but the back speakers may not work while the drivers door works, and such.I think it has something to do with the plug right behind the radio where it plugs into it, because when you push on it, the speakers will work. How do you think I can fix this? (without having to get a new system.)

Dang, you sure you dont want a new system?
There are two types of stereos so see if it will remove the EASY WAY FIRST!

    Easy way!!
Remove the ash tray and its metal bracket. Remove the bolt type screw(s) from the bottom of the hu and back of where the ash tray was and attempt to slide it out, the bolt screw is behind the map pocket if you have such! If this worked go to the fix.

    More tedious way!!
Simply pull the screws from all over the black dash trim (12) one behind each of the three vents, to get the vents out simply use a flatblade from one side and carefully pry and pull the vent out, then close the flap in the vent then undo the screw from the top at an angle, the closed vent will keep the screw from rolling down the back. Then pry and remove the cruise and sunroof switch and push the release and seperate the wire from the switch (there is a screw behind here) do the same with the dimmer switch (another screw) and then pull the coin tray and remove the screw from behind there! Also remove the flasher switch and the rear defroster switch as they will get hung up from the wires are still attached. Now use a stubby phillips and remove the two screws above the gauge cluster just behind the steering wheel. remove the two screws above the radio and just below the heater controls, screws are in the up position. And now remove the two bottom screws from behind the cig lighter and the other below the ash tray! Lower the steering wheel and carefully slide the panel back and to the right! it should come smoothly! It is very breakable so extreme caution to be used!!!

    The fix!
Now you should see the 2-4 bolt/screws holding the HU in place so remove them, and leave the unit plugged in especially if you have a coded hu! I know the 94 accords did! Now there are two areas or connections to check the one directly at the hu and the one leading to the rest of the car find the trouble maker while your key is in acc position and listenening to music. when found determine wether or not it will need to be fixed by resoldering the connection then tapeing the exposed wire! or if it was just a bad connection pull it apart and reconnect it! If you have a coded hu find the code and have it handy!

IT MAY BE A SHORT IN THE HU ITSELF! to determine this play with the fade and l/r controls if you move it to the right and rear and hear fuzzy noise, it could be because of such a thing also is your right front speaker blown or shorted cause if any one speaker does this it could very well be the culprit so check all four speakers just in case!

I have a stock deck on its way out, the right front channel cuts in and out when you use the volume control, and I sometimes hear excessive noise when no other audio output is heard. Then again the cassette function probably has a slipped belt and the knob no longer lets me turn it off (and I still have a power antenna).

I'll be replacing it with another one (keeping stock). If your issue is with multiple speakers, it does sound like the deck.

as everyone has stated before me, just get yourself a new deck. I have a Dual MP3 CD deck, cost me $80 at Wal-Mart and it came with two 6x9 speakers. It works great and allows me to listen to MP3 CDs.

The stock deck is probably just old and the connections could be getting worn. I guess if you really, really want the stock deck pull it out, clean the connections with de-natured alcohol and sandpaper and try again, but really, get another deck, the old one is........old. Search eBay for a cheap, cheap, CHEAP, replacement.
